All right, thanks. I guess I’ll eventually spend the $60 for the game.
What about handheld emulation device? I had the OG PocketGo (with the custom firmware), but it couldn’t really emulate SNES games very well – both emulators provided were pretty mediocre. I pretty much only wound up using it for GameBoy games. Is the RG350 actually any good for SNES games?
pillars 1 is atrocious, it’s leaden and derivative of baldur’s gate in the worst ways.
pillars 2 is actually quite good! it has FFXII-style combat scripting (probably the only other really great use of it I’ve seen), a reasonably nuanced colonialism narrative, and good lazy bioware-but-good writing around your buds.
it doesn’t do the same terry pratchett-as-your-DM approach to roleplaying or combat as divinity, it’s more in the mold of an aughts CRPG, but it does everything actually well.
Is Horizon Zero Dawn worth playing? I like the aesthetic and I wouldn’t mind a BotW-style exploratory and slightly grindy progression with generally good pacing and just-challenging-enough combat. Is that what I’d get? I’m nervous because open-world games have a dubious rep and the reception doesn’t seem rapturous.
IT FUCKING RULES AND ALOY DOESNT HAVE TIME FOR ANYONES SHIT
the world is small and if you like the hard shit about it theres DLC if you dont want it to be hard theres TRAPS AND OUTFITS AND WEAPON COMBOS
it has a dumb skill tree bc there’s a cheevo for unlocking everything on the skill tree WHICH MAKES IT NOT A SKILL TREE THOSE ARE JUST ABILITIES YOU GET WHEN LEVELLING UP
but like aloy is really well written and says everything ive wanted to say to idiot signpost men in games where you talk to people via prestige television camera angles for the last decade
Are Shinobi and Nightshade worth playing? They’re the only remaining PS2 games I’ve been considering playing since they came out and have no idea if it’s worth setting up the console again.
Shinobi has great level design and enemy placement that compliments its combo system. The combo system really distinguished it from a simple DMC also ran. My friend and I spent a whole weekend playing it, swapping back and forth with each death and we had a blast. We tested the first levels of Nightshade but it didn’t feel as tightly designed.
i have recently come around on really wanting to play zero dawn (largely thanks to the noclip video) but i guess i’m just waiting for the pc version now… same as with outer wilds and death stranding.
here’s a quick question: what are your favorite games that can’t be played anywhere but on ps4?! hidden gems?! etc
you can be real boring with your weapon choices and make it through the game fine but nothing feels as good as when youre setting up bombs and tripwires and you TRAPT a robot dinosaur to death
like i think it has monster hunter appeal but not ALL fights take half an hour. you can get into some pretty involved battles though, especially in the DLC
i’ve had mine for about as long and i use my pc lots more! just been thinking about ps4 because of ff7r, heh. i did buy sea of solitude on ps4 recently because it seems like a chill game on ps4 when the alternative is origin (which i only avoid out of laziness unless it’s something like titanfall 2)…
i guess it’ll always kinda just be the bloodborne machine
