This is the way to do it. The only one I’ve played is the most recent one and only a few worlds into it at that. It is at once both joyous and utterly baffling.
Don’t do this to yourself.
I once got banned from a Hotline warez server for saying Kingdom Hearts sucked.
One of only two internet bannings I’ve ever experienced.
I wear both as a badge of posters’ pride.
Ok, I think I have all the PS3 games I want, so I’m mostly looking at PSOne Classics I missed. This “maybe” list is full of stuff I’m really on the fence about
Alundra
Arc the Lad (are these good???)
Armored Core (I never played the original…)
Bomberman Fantasy Race
Chrono Cross
Destrega
Dino Crisis 1/2
Fighting Force
First Queen IV
Future Cop LAPD
Grandia (should I just find the Saturn version?)
Jumping Flash 1/2
Klonoa
Legacy of Kain or the first one
Legend of Dragoon
Any of the Megaman/X/Legends — probably better in a collection somewhere, right?
Parasite Eve 1/2
Shadow Tower
Silent Hill (is there a good way to play this game other than PSOne?)
Suikoden 2
Strider 2
Deception
Tron Bonne
Tomb Raider (I never played any of these games)
Um Jammer Lammy
Vanguard Bandits
Wild Arms 1/2
WipeOut
Xenogears
i played armored core for the first time just a year or two ago and it holds up really well
Yeah gotta ask with all the ways you van emulate PS1 games now why care about the PS1 games of all things?
Well I think enough votes are in to call the result. and I want to thank you all for your participation in our democratic system. I will not be playing every kingdom hearts game after all. I will only be playing 1.5 remix, 2.5 remix, 2.8 final chapter prologue, III and ReMind. I will not be playing “Melody of Memory,” a rhythm game. Everyone: Have a Great Day!
I do not know how to emulate or find PS1 games. Unrelated, I love DMs.
What’s the most painfree way of getting PS1 games to work? Do I still need a bios?
The first Tomb Raider is great and each one after it is less great than the one before. For Legacy of Kain I’m assuming you’re talking about Blood Omen (the first one) and Soul Reaver (the second one). They have weird naming conventions. The first one is called Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain and the second one is called Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver. To add to the confusion both games each got their own numbered sequels on PS2, Soul Reaver 2 and Blood Omen 2 respectively.
I would take the second over the first. Soul Reaver is a 3d character action game that still looks and plays quite well for its age. Blood Omen is a weirdly rendered 2d top-down not-Diablo game where you walk around sucking people’s blood out of their bodies from a dozen feet away. Despite having a 2d overhead art style it doesn’t look like similar games like Diablo because it doesn’t look like it’s rendered in the 3/4 isometric style. I honestly can’t tell what perspective the game is supposed to be in. I think they were going for a directly overhead one point perspective like Link to the Past but they never mirror the walls in any of the rooms so it constantly looks like the whole view is shifted in one particular direction. Why am I only ever able to see the walls of the rooms I’m in at the top of the screen but not the bottom? It might be worth checking out just for this reason alone.
Dino Crisis is Resident Evil but with Dinosaurs instead of Zombies and that should tell you everything you need to know about whether or not you want to play it.
Xenogears is awesome.
Yeah if you search ps1 bios you’ll find it. Maybe on this very forum.
Get retroarch download psx sw or psx hw core from retroarch
Put ps bios in the retroarch/system folder
Plug in any modern controller should auto-config
Enjoy.
This is the right call, and I await your thoughts on how bad teenage dudes are at expressing feelings for each other.
Reminder to get Tokyo Jungle
Testing the MH Rise demo I’m trying to understand why I love moving around and attacking as a slow clunky walking wall in Souls and don’t like it in Monster Hunter. Anyone else in a similar situation?
Is it the more open level design? Maybe input delay? All the extra stuff you need to keep track of compared to the simplicity of just hitting with a giant club in Souls?
smt nocturne, persona 2 eternal punishment, vagrant story, front mission 3, xenogears, parasite eve, mgs1+vr missions, lightning returns, demon’s souls (though that’s also available on disc), mgs2 (ditto)
Last time I looked on the PS3 store I couldn’t find Armored Core: For Answer. Is it only available on disc? Them discs are expensive.
