The second expansion is basically a megadungeon and plays more to the base game’s strengths, I’d recommend it for a lark. Otherwise yeah what tulpa said
Got a local game store that you can give the clerk 10 bucks to let you do that?
looks at one of these gathering dust under my tv
…Neat!
Actually I’m probably just gonna go look for that software.
Has anybody tried Silent Hill Shattered Memories on PSP? Is it worth playing (advantage of portability) or is it unquestionably better on the Wii?
Are there any other couch multiplayer games like Super Mario 3D land or Sackboy?
Do you mean couch co-op in general? (-> Overcooked, Wilmot’s warehouse, Helldivers, lots others) or specifically couch co-op platformer? (-> Huuuh Towerfall, Rayman Origins / Legend, VVVVVV on Switch)
i think those new donkey kong countries have this? and maybe some people like some of them? and maybe one’s on switch??
those games are so reliant on surprise and precision (and anti-flow) that they’re almost surgically-perfect tools to ruin a relationship of harmonic cooperation
recommended for your secret enemies
I probably should’ve been more clear. I meant couch coop overhead and/or isometric games about traversal. Sorta like the isometric tomb raiders but less puzzley and more actiony.
I guess I’ll take single player overhead isometric games about traversal before couch coop games not necessarily about traversal tho. Still looking for examples!
Toejam & Earl? There’s a new/remastered one I know nothing about, but the original is weird enough for an hour or two at least.
I got my Gamebit in this week and started compiling a list of Game Boy games by save battery type from the ones I’ve opened in case it is of any use to anyone else.
This one?
EDIT: I thought this had co-op, but that store page says single player.
What is the SB consensus on Sleeping Dogs?
They are very cute.
It’s frequently very cheap. I bought the ps3 game at launch and then the pc port and ps4 port. Barely touched the later two. I liked it a lot back then. I had some complaints about the plot but I don’t trust my own takes from 5 years ago.
I was thinking about starting it up again soon. But it is probably pretty good if you can deal with arkham combat.
The combat for Sleeping Dogs was designed by the same person who designed the combat for Bully. It’s a good 3D brawler, like Bully or The Warriors, with a lot of options for using the environment when beating dudes up. That part is pretty good.
The open world aspect has a few different elements to it. Since it was originally a True Crime game when it began development it has a system where it rates you based on what you do with different rating systems for whether you’re doing police activity or gang activity. The driving is okay. I never finished it so I can’t comment on the plot but it’s a basic undercover cop framing. Being a video game Hong Kong in the game is a weirdly compressed version of the real city. I always found it kind of difficult to navigate and could never really get my bearings but then I also don’t really know how the city is actually laid out in reality.
Overall I’ve started the game multiple times and played a few hours from the beginning each time and had a good time with it but have yet to really stick with it and dig into the combat and experience systems more. So my impression is that it’s pretty good and that seems to be what everyone else’s impression was when it was newer. I don’t think I recall any negative criticism of it at SB specifically other than maybe they made some weird choices when deciding how to compress the city into a video game level.
Yeah seconding all of this. It’s the only GTA-style game I have played all the way through and that was mainly for the setting*, which is handled OK but could have been a lot better. They can’t decide if they want to be like a serious Johnnie To style triad melodrama or an over the top ultraviolent action movie and the tone kind of suffers because of that. But otherwise it’s pretty cool, the mini Hong Kong has some fun atmospheric details and IMO at least driving felt less hellish than GTA.
*My SO was living in HK at the time and I missed her so I wanted to feel like I was also there lol
Yeah if GTA appeals to you in theory but the gormy physics and gigantic world and Freckle Bitch’s stuff puts you off, Sleeping Dogs is your game. Smaller, brighter, tighter, more fun
also it has nice music
that sounds pretty fuckin’ good actually
and it’s 2 quid on steam
