Video is timestamped for a particular song. Does anyone recognize the extremely bizarre noisy repeating melody in the right channel?
I swear to god I have heard this in another game, and I can’t place it. The melody that comes in on the left channel seems unfamiliar.

if it helps this was composed by Jeroen Tel who I guess did a bunch of C64 stuff? This whole soundtrack is absolutely bizarre in the best way. (yes i’m doing research for pulse wave)

the version i used was from the NES Bram Stoker’s Dracula. it was famously made fun of on the Angry VG Nerd show for being a “scrambled mess” or some other nonsense:

the speed change might be due to the difference between PAL and NTSC regions.

that’s a pretty mild criticism lol. i sorta like AVGN in retrospect because he’s actually like, way milder than most screamy youtube video game dipshits.
but i also hate avgn in retrospect because he became the vanguard of “loudly hating a game” that enabled a whole culture of screamy youtube video game dipshits.

avgn is a hilarious troll and its not his fault people took him at face value. like his sequels video alone makes it pretty obvious its a bit. i never understood all the AVGN clones that came later that were just ‘avgn but sincerely’

avgn sucks because he made everyone think dark castle is a terrible game when it was just the ports, and the original was a mac classic that was ground breaking in many ways, maybe he would know that if he wasnt such a fucking CASUAL, try doing research asswipe

is the emulator pSX still around?
Hasn’t been updated since 2008 and is closed-source. Only thing notable about it these days it seems is that it has low system requirements so I remember there being a version for it ported to the OG Xbox and such.
