Quick Questions XIV: A Question Reasked (Part 1)

360 is markedly better I think, they didn’t get to parity with a lot of those cross-platform titles until like 2010

there’s also the loadtimes. the loadtimes on ps3 feel longer than some of the missions you load into.

Whoops accidedntally deleted my post when i meant to edit it. But yes, the 360 versions have better framerates (though not perfect) and apparently load times, so yeah, go with those if you can. And give us the PC port of the 4 series already, From.

macrium reflect is mostly free and v good for transferring the partition you currently have booted to a new disk, it works remarkably well given that you’re really not supposed to do that

my question concerns knights in the nightmare, the 2008 crown jewel of st!ng’s ambiguously defunct dept. heaven series. it was released first for ds and then ported to psp, but the touchpad is central to how the game plays and so i would vastly prefer the ds version over the psp port. though i no longer have a ds or a copy, i would happily track down both. however, i hate playing games on handhelds and avoid it whenever possible. i have talked to one person who tried emulating the ds version of kitn with mouse replacing stylus touch and didn’t like it, so i’m asking both if anyone else has tried this and would corroborate or contradict that assessment and also if there are any alternative solutions that would make it pleasingly playable on bigger screens, including peripherals etc. is the answer just “get an ipad”? thank you!

If you have a Wii U, you can get it to run DS games with screen 1 on the TV and screen 2 on the Gamepad. Generally you use the Virtual Console emulator; I don’t know if it has compatibility issues with certain games.

I played it on PSP all the way through and loved it. The cursor was never a problem.

How / where can i find a ps5? I really want one (and with the lowest possible firmware) but it seems impossible to find it

as far as i can tell, they are still in short supply and being scalped. i follow an account on twitter that updates about when they’re going on sale, and that seems to be one of the only ways to get one unless you know someone?

You can use an extension like OctoShop on your browser that will alert you the moment stock appears online although in my experience even if you click as soon as the alert pops up they’re still always sold out.

Did something happen with the firmware? Or does the oldest just always end up being the most hackable one?

There’s an industry-wide semiconductor shortage so supply is lower than it would normally be.

I get the impression the PS5 shopping “community” are the type of folks who enjoy the thrill of the hunt, or put another way are masochists who actually want to repeatedly fail at their PS5 purchases like a Saturday-morning cartoon villain constantly getting their latest clever plan foiled

(“And I would’ve gotten away with it too, if it weren’t for those meddling scalpers!!”)
