The logic goes something like 4^n’s only factors are made up factors of 2 and 3^m’s only factors are made up of factors of 3. Because you will never introduce 3s into 4^n and you will never introduce 2s into the 3^m, you will never have a common factor between the two.
AH they are called coprime integers and i guess a bunch of shit happens because of that
your explanation was better than this article though, which summed it up as
“As a consequence of the first point, if a and b are coprime, then so are any powers a^k and b^m .”
far less helpful when the first point just says “no prime number divides a and b” which is just like, the basic idea in the first place. math articles on wikipedia suck shit
MUTUALLY PRIME
ehhh, i’m “relatively prime”, i wouldn’t say i’m that prime though
subprime numbers
haven’t read the proof but this is called “the fundamental theorem of arithmetic” and it goes back to Euclid; it’s basically meant to be why primes are so important. every number except 0 and 1 has a unique factorisation into prime numbers.
(you can write all kinds of different products that equal 0 as long as you throw in a 0 somewhere, so it doesn’t have a “unique” factorisation; and 1 isn’t considered prime, probably because you can also use it to write annoying endless stuff like 1 = 1×1×1×1×1)
the other thing is that, practically, computing the prime factors of a given number gets rapidly more time consuming as the number gets bigger, while verifying the solution (multiplying those factors together) stays relatively quick. so because it is a unique set of factors, it can be used as a key for decoding messages that would be almost impossible to find if you didn’t have it to start with
I have a friend who fucking loooooves Virtual On, and plans on cosplaying as Fei-Yen once the pandemic’s over. She’s already built like half the costume.
I’m wondering: Is there a game out there that’s similar? It has a real fun visual style and charm that sets it far apart from most mech games, and it has fun characters to cosplay as. Override: Mech City Brawl has some similar vibes, for one.
sorry
Similar mechanicly? Because there is the Touhou Virtual On Clone that inexplicably got a physical US release that I bought at Target.
If you mean visually I’d point to any Sega/Namco Arcade game from 1996-2002.
Nah, similar in vibe and aesthetic. Particularly the “we have battle robots in this that are also magical girls” part.
At the end of the day, ain’t nothing like Virtual On but Virtual On, but I wonder if this is somehow a subgenre of some sort.
optimally prime
Very quick question! What’s the best Shiren game?
I’ve only played Tower of Fortune but it’s a good one and accessible on many systems so go with that?
also recommend the fan translation of the snes original
What’s the best way to load up a Street Fighter 2 practice mode on my PC? Preferably free. I have HD Remix on RPCS3, but it’s not quick about loading and selecting a character.
what recent game is the most similar to Megaman X? (not necessarily aesthetically)
i would say 20XX but i’ll probably get lambasted because it’s a roguelite and also i haven’t played megaman x in so long i’m not sure how it feels in the hands so uh
megaman x 4?
oh yeah i remember hearing about this when it came out - this must pretty much be it huh. i think the particular experience i’m craving is the kind of reactive diorama / puzzle box / lock and key aspect of mega man games* so idk if anything that has random-ish elements would be that satisfying
i’m sympathetic to your definition of “recent” but not exactly what i had in mind lol
*an underexplored aspect of mmx i really like is how if you beat the levels in a certain sequence, it can cause slight environmental changes in the other levels. i feel like someone could do a lot with that.
