Quick Questions XIV: A Question Reasked (Part 1)

I mean technically all the pirate sites are, if you’re willing to trust them.

I will also say as someone who wrote scripts to patch my own changes into closed-source Android executables that it is trivial to lace stuff with malware, so I would be incredibly reluctant to trust any third-party app distribution on Android that isn’t from a reliable source (like the developer itself)

I’m a dope, it’s called Rotten Tangerines and I was looking for Moldy Oranges:

https://www.amazon.com/URARA-WORKS-Co-Ltd-Rotten-Tangerines/dp/B00ATMLPLC

Will investigate this further but now that I have a lead this is way easier

Thanks!

Like, outside of being Full and Close-To-Empty does anyon pay attention to the stamina bar in Souls games?

when i played dark souls i liked to watch it to see how many times i could do an attack before draining the bar entirely, but i don’t think it ever helped me in actual combat.

I thought each android app ran in it’s own sandbox?

They’ve been gradually boxing things in over time as Google has slowly realized having your platform be wide open is only good for attracting nerds and bad actors, and bad for everyone normal. But that’s assuming your phone gets timely major version updates (which it probably doesn’t) and that you aren’t granting arbitrary broad permissions to the apps you are installing (which you probably have to if you want to run anything at all, because ad and analytics packages try to get away with everything)

Even if the list of granted permissions matches exactly the original APK’s, since everything asks for more than they need, you can still get to a lot of juicy stuff just from what users unknowingly agree to when installing apps

imo this is important if you’re pvping a lot? you’ll wanna know your combo’s stamina usage well enough that you can get out of melee range before your opponent is out of hit stun

who is a good domain registrar these days? gandi still?

Gandi has never been the absolute cheapest or most all in one but I’ve never had a bad experience with them

I use Gandi or Porkbun. You can also use tld-list to find the cheapest registrars for different domain extensions.

I want a game to play on PS4 for my two hours a night that I can also que up shit on spotify and not mind that I am dening myself the game music.

Better if it doesn’t have a lot of full screen flashes.

Am I just describing Slay The Spire? I don’t know I played that once and thought it was alright.

i do this with nioh

The Slay the Spire (Act 4) final boss track is too sweet and climactic to miss IMO

Otherwise it’s a good fit

this is just cause 4 for me atm

I’d say you could do this with final fantasy xiv, except when you take on a boss fight because some of that music rips

This is exactly Slay the Spire for me, yeah.

I feel like learning that the MC of FFX has a name that’s pronounced TEEDUS instead of TIDE-US should not be so hard for me to swallow if in the English dub he is ever referred to by his name. But I can’t remember if they ever actually say his name? That seems improbable, but is it true? Does anyone know?
