The hood-tails or whatever immediately made me think Koko the Clown doing St. James Infirmary…

…which is its own sort of racial awkwardness. I’m really curious now what they were going for with that design, because it seems very particular.

question: obviously ARMS is a long distance boxing game, but by virtue of requiring the player to think act in terms of long distance…is ARMS a shooter?

I remember Tim once saying Wild Arms XF (a tactical jrpg) was a shooter because it required the thing I just said. That alone was what interested me to try that game sometime.

man 2017…isn’t Below coming out this year too? Kinda seems like something that should’ve come out two years ago. Maybe it missed its window?

dude, I don’t even know

I remember playing below in a super-sekrit basement before it and Galak-Z were announced and comparing how we were both going to blow peoples’ minds

uh, our game released almost 2 years ago and it was delayed by 8 months

It’s hard because Below is working in minimalism so its quiet pleasures and tightness can easily get obscured as “dark souls 2D roguelike” doesn’t seem near as unexplored in 2017+

(by the way I was blown away and intensely jealous back then (Capy is good folks))

Thank you for showing me that, the Cab Calloway version of that song is rad and the animation is fucking incredible

Sure, it’s rotoscoped, but they did an amazing job

i like to imagine that the concept for this entire short came to its creator spontaneously once it dawned on them that they could animate literally anything they wanted

So I said “they” but it was really one fuckin dude: Roland Crandall

A completely hand-drawn 7 minute animation, done in six months

Apparently I’m late to the party on this but wow

Is there anything that makes the Wii Twilight Princess superior to the GC?

The way I hear it there’s nothing makes any version of Twilight Princess superior to anything.

definitely The Worst

Wii version adds proper widescreen (I think GameCube just has letterboxed widescren). Motion controls aren’t decent but are motion controls; bow aiming is sometimes great and sometimes awful, though shield-bashing with nunchuk stabs feels pretty good. Callbacks to Ocarina are messed up because of the mirror world.

In the Wii U version the opening village bullshit only takes 4 instead 6 hours!

You still have to run around a fucking foresf trying to find timber. Then you do something with sheep and everyone looks hideous and you hate it. Then you finally start playing the game and every cool moment makes you more upset.

I played this game over 10 years ago and still deeply hate it.

I liked TP. It was certainly a heck of a lot better than Skyward Bored

doesn’t the wii-u version have a hard mode

that seems worth it

does it bother anyone that eiji anouma said that he didn’t really play videogames at all before breath of the wild went into development
