yeah the mic on that is on the third band of the miniplug because it’s a combined headphone/mic, and a dedicated mic jack will expect the mic band to be where the headphone band is. you need a $2 radioshack adapter if you want to use it in a regular dedicated analog mic jack.

If you have $250 to spare, an H4N Zoom recorder connected via XLR to a cheap cardioid mic is the setup I use. It’s about as portable as these things get, and the audio quality is pretty good.

I have two of these
supposedly based on the Shure SM-58, which is a classic workhorse mic which you’ll probably find in most studios and venues.
Regardless, these are solid mics at a great price.
Otherwise I’d say just buy some used Shure. Shure SM-58 mics are known for being quite sturdy. Buying used is low risk. Especially if you buy from a place with seller ratings, such as Ebay or whatever. Or if you are on a forum with a classifieds section which you feel comfortable with.

At least a few months back, I think someone posted a song which was like a super hype m/f duet rock ballad, the music itself somewhere between…Outrun-ish and T-SQUARE? Not sure if it was straight from a soundtrack or arrange album, seemed from a game franchise at least.
Anyways if you have any idea of this song or a close equivalent, I’m needing that sound baby!

does anybody know why when i take screenshots in VLC now, if it has subtitles it’ll fuck up the resolution, but if no subtitles are showing, they output just fine?

There are a number of aspect-ratio related bugs in VLC’s screenshots in versions after 2.1.5. Beats me! But if you go back to that version for screenshotting you’ll be good.
