The upside is the PS Classic comes with controllers, the downside is that it is those controllers.
Thanks! Now I just need to find a RP case that looks as nice as the PS/NES/SNES mini and I’ll probably just go with that.
Are the PS Classic digital controllers bad? They don’t have analog, but as an SNES and older emu box that should be fine, yeah?
I don’t know if they’re bad, and I’m sure they are fine for non-stick stuff
how is the PS1 port of rainbow six more representative of the console’s innovations than ape escape you COWARDS
I think sadly that some suit looked at it and thought it was only logical since the latest Rainbow Six game is currently one the most played multiplayer shooters and Ape Escape is deeeeeeeeeead
ape escape requires dualshock
The content deals for the PS Classic were undoubtedly with Sony’s current 3rd-party partners, not the mostly-dead studios from that era, and Ubisoft is important now in a way it absolutely wasn’t twenty years ago. So if you’re throwing them a bone,
I just saw this yesterday while lurking. What say you?
This is odd because someone I know has modded a ps classic and was talking about how they had to modify the circuit board. I’ll ask them why they had to do that?
A couple reasons I still kinda like the pi better:
The PSClassic is probably not gonna last the year, and support is probably going to turn into something of a crapshoot. Conversely, the pi is going to be a thing for a long time. Maybe the existing stuff will be fine, maybe it won’t.
Secondly, I really never had huge problems setting up the pi? There’s always a lot of talk about it being a pain but I didn’t have that many issues with it.
Thirdly, and this is more a YMMV deal, you have a raspberry pi. There’s a ton of cool stuff you can do with one of those beyond it just being an emulator box. Pi hole is an really cool add blocker, for example.
It also supports WiFi and Bluetooth, which give it some cool functionality the mini will never have.
I think it’s more of a tossup after reading this, but I still like the pi a bit more.
The circuit board mod thing is mostly because the PS Classic limits how much current goes to the controller USB ports, leaving you with very few options as far as compatible USB 2.0 drives are concerned.
Putting a tiny glob of conductive ink across two of the resistors opens up (within reason!) USB 3.0 drives, or even plugging in a hub with the drive and the second controller at the same time.
Or! You could just use a powered USB hub. But adding the ink is like $10 for a pen of it and about ten minutes of work, tops.
Anyway, I’ve had fun with it. The Pi is certainly more capable, and I’m sure things have gotten a lot easier with adding games and configuring emulators since I messed with my Pi 2 years ago.
But as this thing goes, it’s very easy, especially if you’re content to just use AutoBleem. Format a stick to FAT32, name it “SONY,” unzip one zip file for AutoBleem, another for RetroArch, and add your ISOs and games to it.
Filter options are pretty limited on RetroArch and performance on some systems leave something to be desired (GBA chugs, but PSP runs fine?), but for $30 I’m finally playing all the games I have vague memories of from when I was 10 years old.
Did y’all know Jersey Devil is a bad game? Now I do!
can a hacked ps3 be used as a region free bluray player, or is bluray region in some super-inaccessible part of the consale and unchangable?
is there actually a good free realtime virus protection software or should i just drop money on malwarebytes
How much would upping my ram make my 4-5 year old laptop improve?
if it only has 4GB or doesn’t have an SSD, a fair amount, but you should really get an SSD at that point
anyone know if there’s some kind of browser addon that will allow you to queue embedded content into a playlist?
strong desire to do this with the music threads
I wouldn’t begin to know how to replace the harddrive. thanks!
Unless you got a Mac it should just be unscrewing a few things, unplugging, and replugging a drive.
And depending on what Mac you have, it still might be the same deal just with specialized screwdrivers.
It’s one of the easier hardware things to do, IMO.
oh that is easy…moving the stuff-reinstalling windows 10 etc.
Pretty much:
