Setting the SRAM to auto-save every 15 seconds is the first step of any fresh RetroArch install and it’s bonkers that it’s not that way by default

Auto save states on exit as well as auto loading state on load is actually already a RetroArch option.
By reconfigurable controls do you mean the on-screen touch buttons? I think you can choose from several templates and adjust their scale but not really fine adjust them like some other mobile emulators.

Shit, you can do auto save states?? I gotta find that option.

And yeah I want super granular control over every individual button, touchscreens are already wonky enough, I need to be able to move each button. And ideally add or remove fast forward, screenshot, and save/load state. I’m picky.

fuck i didn’t even know about these options

there’s so much horrible about this screenshot but the worst thing is absolutely “HQ3X”

And this would be a problem on nand-based devices like phones, etc. since nand wears out relatively fast from writing. That is my guess why emulators these days don’t default to auto-write to disk. Auto-saving ever 15 seconds or so is a nice compromise though.

i did a clean install the other day and sram auto save is on by default now, at 10 seconds

lr-fuse isn’t recognizing any input on my retropie set-up besides the hotkey-start quit command thankfully. I can’t get into the hotkey x menu or even do anything with a keyboard. Any idea what gives?

I haven’t touched it in a while and I can’t remember if spectrum games ever worked or if i was playing them on a different install on my old pi 1 or 2 set ups.

I got the keyboard working by setting controller 3 to “Sinclair keyboard,” but couldn’t get my pad to work as either a joystick in a supported game or using the keyboard bind over rides in the game options. I tried setting controller 1 from retropad to kensington and it crashed everything although it did seem to read the fire button immediately before.

Edit:

Looks like you can’t have a controller acting (even in part) as a keyboard, plus an actual keyboard. I’ll experiment tonight.

Does anyone have zomb’s shaders fir recent Retroarch (since they made all shaders relative?)

this isn’t entirely rational but i’ve really started to fucking hate this thing, swear the gang at retroarch are conspiring to turn me Real Hardware Only

Analogue and Polymega are ready for you.

Last week Retroarch started crashing whenever I hit the A button while playing NES games even though I had changed zero settings or anything about my computer so I said fuck it I’m switching to OpenEmu but that would not run NES games at full speed so I updated Retroarch and now I guess it works again but it still crashes way more often than it should and I hate this app

you can run NES games at full speed on a Macintosh Quadra
