Dugtrio is a hand. This time, it just got a volcano goddess’s hair on it.

Arena Trap and a recent buff is almost definitely going to send it to Smogon Ubers after a few months. Good job, little moles, you’re one of the only three first-gen mons shoved up there.

I bought Moon, but haven’t started it yet because I still have to finish Y. I got the Moon version because I usually play at night but prefer my JRPGs to be bright and sunny.

I’m playing Moon. A friend of mine is freaking out because I caught a wild Munchlax that was holding Leftovers.

this is basically goty imo

Alola forms are pretty

My starter is Alolan Meowth. With her Pick Up skill, she found a Destiny Knot, Moon Stone, and a Sun Stone within her first few hours. I love her.

Even now, as a big dough faced big dumb kitty Persian, she’s my babbbby. I wish Persian kept the Pick Up ability though - this new skill isn’t nearly as useful for single player purposes.

What the hell this was an option?

It’s always an option; your box is always waiting to take any trash you don’t want.

ah

I was ignoring new Pokemon but I accidentally saw some new mons and now I really want it :((((((

I just battled against a trainer named Ikue who had a Pikachu. Nice one.

I named my character Mikey, and battled a trainer named Mikey. I felt no remorse one-shotting his Pokemon

i like Pokemon’s Fake Hawaii more than i like their Fake France, every house you walk into actually feels like it’s its own separate house. every location you visit still feels like different areas on some kind of robotic Disneyland attraction, but i love the character designs, everyone is so cute and charming.

Team Skull is the best thing to happen to this game, their fake Juggalo antics charm me in numerous ways, this might be the first group cosplay i seriously attempt with friends.

besides all that, the game so far feels mechanically similar to X/Y/3DS Ruby/Saph. i still feel like i’m going through all those similar motions, but i appreciate that they seemingly cut out HMs entirely in favor of mapping Fly/Swim/Cut to the D pad (you have to “unlock” them first) and changed up the way you fight gyms.

my favorite new addition is being able to cure status ailments via “Refreshing”, where you can cure poison, paralysis and burning just by swabbing them and petting them and feeding them colorful beans. i kind of wish they removed all the antidotes you can buy from the shops entirely and just went with this method, it’s a lot more involving and fits with the “bond you build with your Pokemon” narrative they keep pushing.

this game is not that different from the other 3DS games but it is streamlined in a lot of ways and feels better than it has ever felt.

this game has an absolutely-for-real “bed smelling mechanic” and even though it’s brief, it might be one of the most oddly human moments i’ve seen in a videogame in years

I haven’t been keeping up, has the fandom forgiven Popplio now that she grows up to be a hot selkie babe?

It’s best not to think long about what the pokemon fandom thinks of anything.

And now we have:

Who is playing this slavery simulator for children?

I’m playing it! Having some good times with my crabrawler and grimer, and just caught an araquanid that I’m thinking of adding to my party. Started with litten but kinda wish I had chosen popplio - not really digging litten’s evolution. At the time I decided I wasn’t going to look up any evolutions online to, I dunno, recapture a sense of mystery I had when playing pokemon as a kid, but that rule went out the window pretty quickly…

The main thing that irks me about the game is that there’s just too much stuff. Like, there are just tonnes of items that all do the same thing, but collecting them as an end unto itself isn’t really that satisfying because you can’t do anything interesting with them. Things like berries seem completely superfluous - everyone in the game keeps telling me to let my pokemon hold them, but why favour a berry over something like a z-skill? I’ve gotten to the point where when finding an item - like a TM or something - I mostly don’t even look it up because of the effort involved in scrolling through the item menus.

Also, the game does everything short of literally telling you the storyline twist before it happens (at least, what I’m presuming happens), which is annoying.

I’m enjoying the story in this game a whole lot, predictable as it is. I don’t mind if more of these games become a bit more plot heavy as time goes on.

One thing that’s irking the shit out of me though - god damned near every time I use a bunch of potions to heal up my party after a grueling stretch of fights, some NPC shows up to heal all my guys. I must have wasted dozens of potions by now.
