Incredibly upsetting how nearly every single video in this thread claiming to be either be “HD” or “remastered” have either cropped or stretched the 4:3 source material into 16:9 like it’s nothing. The absolute worst are the Metal Gear, Onimusha 3 and Persona 3 ones though where the original scenes are actually letterboxed and if you had just cropped out those black bars you would had a perfectly fine widescreen but instead they just horizontally stretched those as well???
I mean, I know it’s just standard practice when remastering old content for HD anyway (was surprised that the only time people actually made a somewhat notable stink about it was for The Simpsons on Disney) but still…

computer terminals are a v powerful aesthetic imo
for this intro i like to imagine that Dr. Cain had to spend months scrounging around for antique electronics because he needed an unholy daisy chain of converter cables in order to SSH into X’s capsule via its parallel port, all because Dr. Light had a some petty grudge against the USB Implementers Forum.

the PC port of CD was my first Sonic and i watched this intro over and over again, probably more than i actually played the game
The idea of Sonic actually being “cool” and not kind of dated/ironic probably seems silly now, im sure that’s why the new movie leaned in on being a buddy comedy where he’s a silly goblin thing (haven’t actually seen it!), but as a kid this was the dopest and freshest shit i had ever seen, it was without question that this little guy was cool as hell
