In my experience the game is about how incredibly silly this ^ is and it’s mostly hilariously coy about it but Graha is WAY too clingily explicit and obvious and that’s why I hate him. He ruins all the fun

I really disagree with this! The WoL is essentially not characterized except as a blandly dumb go-getter, and her position in the story is “omnipotent nuke with no agency” which is a delicious irony that is drawn out by all your buddies, who are of course extensively characterized and carry all the story’s emotional weight, treating you as their favorite godkilling dog. They’re all standing around making intricate plans for fielding armies and shaping societies and so forth, and then someone says “and then, when all the prep work is done, someone has to go in there and hit that titanic freakbeast with an axe”, and then they all look at you and slap your shoulder encouragingly and say “go get 'em champ!”
I’m doing the crafting stuff now and every time it has you interact with an MSQ character they always do some version of “oh! It’s… you! You just liberated my home from that evil empire, but also… you’re a master leatherworker? Of course you are, of course you are. Good to have you on board” and I laugh my fuckin ass off, it’s great
The WoL reads as a standard RPG protagonist (they’re powerful, partly through the power of friendship) with some winking about how much is asked of them, how they never turn down a quest, they have no agency beyond what face they respond to a question with, etc. And they have a lot of friends, the game focuses a lot on the community of the Scions etc. and how powerful connection is.
Graha is a character with one red eye and one green-blue eye that may as well turn bluer when he’s sad, an uwu cute catboy, and the WoL’s biggest fan who wrote diary entries about how he wishes he could have gone on adventures with them; he’s 95% fanfic tropes, which I personally have a fondness for because he’s not on the edgelord side of that spectrum, but I understand why people would find it annoying instead.
the thing about graha is, if you hate him and want to bully him, he’s fine with that, he loves it when you bully him
but if you wanna love him and give him headpats he’ll take that too, he’ll do anything just to be near you.
I like to imagine my WoL’s dynamic to be the former. pookia the moegadon is always like ‘hey graha can you get this bom boko off the shelf? oh of course you can’t, you can’t reach, you’re just a stupid tiny baby boy’
I imagine graha does a lot of chewing on the inside of his cheek in response to my antics

Newest patch has added the ability for your custom portraits to show up before dungeon roulettes, instead of being quarantined to the Mostly OK payload pvp mode.

I finished Stormblood. I enjoyed it but it was a bit uneven going from the two major locations and conflicts. I liked HW more but I think most people feel that way.
I am going to finish leveling my warrior to level 70 so all my tanks are at that level before I dive into post Stormblood patches.
