Holy moly. That’s a ton of fixes!

If this were a Kickstarter or Early Access game the story would be completely different, but I also suspect they wouldn’t have anywhere near the resources.

playing this again for the first time in a month or so and wow they really did improve it a lot. i enjoyed the game before but definitely felt it’s limitations, now there just seems a whole lot more variety - and things that are actually meaningful.

Yeah but will they fix the lies? Looks like they didn’t!

lolololol

Roamers look fun

Dead End Thrills has been working on the new photo mode so you can check out some of the current tweets if you want to see what some of the filters can do

Looks like I should have waited to play this game. Oh, well.

The added variety, if significant, might be enough to draw me back in since they added a “photo mode” as well. Some of the updates seem to go against the spirit of the game (at least as I experienced it), such as building a base and being able to return to places you have been.

I played it a lot for a couple weeks when it came out and haven’t touched it since. I will probably delete my save and start over once this latest update hits. I am pretty excited.

It’s 60% off over at GOG. I assume pc folks will get the same update?

According to the NMS site, yeah. I can’t find any notes on when it goes live so maybe it already is?

Sweet! Might finally pull the trigger on this

Hmm, interesting. I wonder if I need to start a new game to get the most out of this. I’ve put about 30 hours in before any significant patches were released.

Probably will start a new game, at least to get the tutorials.

This is neat!

The only thing with the GOG version is that it won’t support the limited co-op mode.

really wondering if you can just orb in to check out a pals base or freighter hmm

That’s cool I’m a solitary player by nature

Been playing a new save of No Man’s Sky since the update.

They’ve completely changed the progression of technology and resources, it’s sort of incredible. Whereas before you would be inundated with blueprints you already had just by landing places, now you get resources to purchase blueprints instead. There are way more tradeable resources as well, which I’ve yet to really dig into. It feels much more like an economy now instead of a bunch of random stuff being dumped into your inventory at every turn.

The space combat is slightly more satisfying - you start with rockets and lasers and have to switch back and forth depending on how overheated they get, so that’s alright. There are huge bounties on random baddies so that definitely gives much more of an impetus to get into a fight.

It’s also just easier to make money now, seemingly. I struggled a lot with being mega-poor at the beginning, but I’m much less starved for resources this time around.

I’ve encountered more gigantic creatures than before, and overall the planets seem more lively (when they do have life). They’ve changed the scanner interface completely as well, it seems to give more information than before and also looks nicer.

Inventory management is still a pain in the ass, but it seems like they’ve added high capacity inventory slots for the suit. I’ve yet to find one though. So it’s still a pain in the ass. It’s bad when I die and lose all of my stuff and find myself kind of relieved that I don’t have to deal with it anymore.

Haven’t touched base building. Can’t say I’m that interested in it, I’d much rather be a nomad.

There’s a new “race” of creatures that appear to be travelers like the player character, and actually can look very different from each other. They speak your language but are really, really weird. One of them looks like a bipedal cat. I’m putting this down as a NOCTIS IV reference and never questioning it. Don’t burst my bubble.

The new story progression is nice - much easier to get a Hyperdrive and fuel for it in the beginning, and it’s much more clear what you’re “supposed” to be doing.

It’s still just as wonderful landing on a new planet and seeing the moons and other planets in the sky. I get the same chills every time I enter the atmosphere. It’s still my dream game.

You can’t store excess junk somewhere you can easily return to it?
