Huh. Has Falcom ever dabbled in tabletop RPGs or board games before?

“male fans” is an incredible misnomer, these were South Korea’s instance of gamergate incels who were looking to target the artist specifically even though she was not the creator of the wetsuit Ishmael at the center of this.

Korea seems to be in the midst of a huge antifeminist wave, at least as far as gaming goes. The Maple Story billboard van protests are nuts. I think they’ve masked it as consumer rights stuff but it seems to be about distaste with the supposed politics of games companies

it’s my favorite time of year, the time when new iidx gets announced

what’s notable for this release is that, unless you have the most recent very expensive version of the arcade cabinet, you have to spend like $4000 buying an official hardware upgrade kit from konami (the parts of which cost about $1000 even without wholesale discount, so this is pure greedy profit for konami) in order to run iidx 31

such a great move at a time when the arcade industry is still faltering in japan, surely this won’t lead to a bunch of arcades getting rid of their iidx machines
