Mick Jagger Alliance, I utter before an ICBM obliterates me and the entire neighborhood block which is “acceptable collateral damage”

The really interesting question is whether or not the ja3 designer is a 1.13 “we took out the questionnaire and replaced it with race science because the 90s arent funny anymore” guy or a true doom every jagged alliance game should have at least one reference to courtney love or the oj trial guy

Xuan Yuan Sword 3 coming to Steam and Switch this year, the trailer shows chinese text but apparently it is getting an english translation

Visually it’s kinda giving me SaGa Frontier vibes:

Oh hey, I played that Phoenix Spring: Prologue thing some months back. Great presentation, the game/IU part is odd enough to quite easily trip someone up and I worry it could become a “have a walkthrough open” level problem in the full game but I am interested to see what becomes of this.

Hopefully this means some other games in this series or the older Sword and Fairies might end up getting the same treatment later down the track

The archives are worse than American silent film according to the study.

I apprecite the VGHF’s mission, and I like Phil’s work, but this quote from his paper is bad. “Commercial availability” for video games does not come close to meaning the same thing as “survival” for silent-era films. Not being able to buy a licensed digital rerelease from a major distribution platform of some mostly forgotten Commodore 64 game that is available on the Internet Archive, C64 “complete library” torrents, and the occasional eBay cartridge just isn’t the same thing as a film that has not existed in any form for decades and will never be seen again.

I know the VGHF works closely with industry partners and they have to be careful about their endorsement of piracy—and some games have disappeared!—but most of the 14% of surviving American silent feature films aren’t “commercially available” either.

Yeah I guess they feel at least film has nationalised archives and those began relatively soon after the invention of film (3-4 decades). We’re in a different situation with piracy and the internet but I can see the need.

Looking forward to being interviewed in 2070 about all the games I played that only exist in my living memory.

I think they know that and this is very practiced doublespeak on their part but like you I just can’t interpret it as credible, useful advocacy on that basis, and I wonder what a practical alternative is supposed to be
