News & Gossip VII: For Blood and Headlines

I’ve said this before but Imagine Dragons is definitely the worst megapopular “rock” band in human history, soundly beating out the previous title holder, Coldplay

they’re not even megapopular, they can’t even get that part right. I think ‘megapopular rock band’ is a thing that is no longer possible.

man there was a deliberate pause before the elephant peach reveal where it felt like there was this unsaid “and you sicko freaks are gonna love this one:” hanging in the air.

Will this be the first Mario game I actually get into since 1991? It looks ok!?

the look and feel of this reminds me of pocket mirror, which was a horror rpgmaker game that got a remaster fairly recently i think. a game ive always intend to finish one day

The Chinese Room are making this game after all. I remember when those rumours first came out I was like that’s so crazy it’s probably true. Apparently they’re re-using a lot of the art assets from the cancelled Hardsuit Labs version, but doing a new codebase w/ new gameplay mechanics and some changes to the story.

Doesn’t come out for a year, but I suppose that’s better news than “it’s cancelled”. Who knows if the game will actually be good, though.

So long as HSL is no longer involved in any way that is a good sign. Do you know if thechineseroom hired any of the former troika devs that HSL fired?

oh yo! the Chinese room? I’m kind of excited about this now.

None of them are in that developer video, so I’m going to guess no.

It’s funny Paradox’s approach is still “What if we keep hiring devs that have never made an RPG before to do an RPG?” At least in this case it could be an interesting bad idea instead of a boringly bad one. I mean them just turning it into a nearly gameplay-free series of branching narrative paths in pretty places could be a good fit for vampire if that’s what it ends up as.

That I keep hearing weird stuff about paradox from the tabletop RPG dev side of things and this…yeah…seems just as weird. Hopefully they won’t demand TCR put back racism someone tried to take out or something. Like they did with Werewolf the Apocalypse.

let’s be honest, this is how non-combat-heavy white wolf games always go, those rules are atrocious

Oh yeah, totally. I think that would make it a lot better but I dunno if that would go over well since believing elaborate combat rules are necessary is a vampire tradition as old as vampire.

Wait was that the guy on Hogwarts legacy who was dropping all the weirdly specifically anti-semetic plot details into the game? The ones where they went beyond subtext to literally having shit like goblin Shofar horns? Or was that someone different?

someone else, this is the lady in the video

I don’t understand why paradox won’t just make a Dark Ages Vampire grand strategy game that plays like a hybrid of the Crusader Kings roleplaying and Victoria 3’s internal politics
