i’m sorry that you’ve never known the joy of feeling like a freight train as fred durst would say
yep. i feel like i’ve matured a lot since then and my world has gotten big enough for me to be able to accept that, you know, ultimately taste in music is not that big a deal and if someone loves something or is moved by it then that’s wonderful and i respect it. but at the time it just felt like the soundtrack for the worst people i knew doing the least interesting stuff i could imagine. hard to put it into words really.
I think nu metal sounds like kids music which is appropriate since its mostly popular with kids
whenever I see kids born in like 2009 nostalgalize the early 2000s I immediately think of the time I was in a mental hospital whose tv in the commons room seemed to play nothing but commercials for rob schneiders the animal and how high (directed by bob dylan’s kid). truly a lost golden age of culture and high art
I can’t believe I just remembered the orderly standing outside my room one night talking to another orderly asking him if he had heard the song crawling by linkin park, saying that sometimes, that’s how he felt. I didn’t like that guy cause I was trying to sleep one time and my roommate decided to try pulling my mattress off my bed frame then, and the orderly walked in right then and sent me, whose just trying to get some sleep, to a padded room. I was only in this place to begin with cause I was framed for depression and now this happens
Mortal Kombat died enough times that it had to evolve.
Honestly not that bad an idea.
it’s not often that a game can impress with realism these days, usually when you’re impressed by graphics, it’s something like guilty gear xrd, taking stylisation to new levels.
but wow, look at that!
yeahhhh i dont like how it looks but at this point i think its a personal prooblem and i hate graphics
Oh yeah TGS is in a month.
this finally came out a few days ago btw
one of the more ambitious Silent Hill-likes that seems like it’s been in the works several years now. i played the demo a couple years back and found it confusing but fairly memorable

Ah a demo so I can confirm or dissay the tiny complaints the trailer gave me.
Thanks!
Not sure I have the language to articulate what bothers me about the look of this. Feels to me (in MK fashion) like the hits aren’t really connecting or are like, fake? I think previous VFs still look very good so I can’t tell if the animations are different (less varied in timing ? all fast in the clip) or if maybe the ‘realistic’ elements; minimal hit effects, muted colors, controlled digital camera/lack of screen shake, etc. make the video gamey constant clipping & animation timing much more noticeable
The speed ramping is very Snyder i wonder if thats in-match or a replay thing.
Aside from some of the new elements, visually this looks in line with existing virtua fighter to me, much moreso than the previous footage. This includes some of the goofier hitboxes and floatiness of juggle or knockdown animations. VF’s use of hit lighting instead of hit effects (until ultimate showdown) meant some of that stuff isn’t masked as well as other games.
But the lack of screen shake and the move to more modern, subdued hit sound effects (as opposed to the always loud and ostentatious classic martial arts movie sound effects used in previous VF games) lessens the impact of each hit. I expect a lot of this to change and improve during development (I would not be surprised if that extremely low camera another after knockdown is removed or at least significantly re-thought by release) so I’m not too hung up on anything yet.
But there’s there’s curious things in there. Feels a bit more DOA in vibe too.
strange…your words magic always turn an upcoming game into retro.

vf has traditionally been one of the fastest moving fighting games, so all these ‘cinematic’ flourishes fell antithetical to the pace of actual competitive play. of course, fighting games aren’t made to be played anymore, only to be watched. i don’t mind the graphical look that they’re going for, but i hope that they have the good sense to pare down these effects and make them highly conditional.
I like how they went “don’t worry, we’ll be insulting your intelligence” in the trailer

I don’t know how to play the piano and if it wasn’t in the game I’d have to look up the notes, just like in every other game that uses puzzles like this.
This has been the deal in many, many, games. I don’t see the issue.
