Hard Reset is great, though I’d never play it with twin thumb lollipops.
Not news as such but an interesting read
Did I already post this? I’m posting it again.
Another new Dreamcast game with a laughably impossible low kickstarter goal.
Pretty sure developers have said before it costs 90 thousand just do to do a 3DS port. So that means they are doing the PC/Mac/Linux/Dreamcast for free.
Also n64 aesthetic isn’t one I want to return to.
so this is not a post of endorsement?
is there really an “indie dreamcast scene”?
oh hey I remember this, the lowpoly is pretty cute
I don’t know if there’s a “community” per se, but there are quite a lot of indie games being released exclusively for the Dreamcast. DUX, GunLord, Neo XYX, Sturmwind, etc.
yeah. I’d have to go digging. There were two seperate FPSs being made for it around last year. I think one project collasped but there was footage of it. It had the similar level of 3D (Half-Life 1 mod).
@Sykel I suppose not. I don’t think there are enough Dreamcast fans in 2016 to support it’s goal if that was the only goal. If I remove any biases and just looked at the game itself I wouldn’t give it a second thought. I’ve bought every independent Dreamcast release of the past 6-7 years, but I am also not dumb enough to support them blindly. I bought them because I was interested in each of them. That list off the top of my head: Sturmwind, Dux, ReDux, Dux 1.1, Dux 1.5, Dux 1.2 (lol), Gunlord, Fast Striker, Last Hope, Neo XYX, Ghostblade, Pier Solar.
Where I was previously keeping track of Dreamcast indie news seems to have dissappeared so I’d have to dig if there is a specific “community” still around.
I’m sort of surprised there’s not some copyright thing preventing people from doing that. but that’s cool. hope it continues.
when i was last in New York, i bought Gunlord on Dreamcast from a small games shop. it’s like some lost Saturn 2D game but it’s still kinda cool.

I still don’t understand how this side-on low poly aesthetic was ever supposed to be good
it’s weird because I really liked the look of FF3/4 DS but this (and the megaman remakes for PSP which look they used the same damn engine, jesus inafune, you should be embarrassed) looks mushy and terrible. might just be a genre thing.
Shots fired
The Minecraft skin advertised “Retro Hero” DLC at the end almost makes the whole a thing of beauty.
Denis Dyack is BACK three years later.
Blames the “unethical” press for his failures.
Seeing the interesting word choice there, I looked at his recent youtube video and found his company saying this in the comments section:
"Jim Sterling’s transition from mainstream journalism to streamer was ushered in by his claim that “There is no conspiracy” - referring to the gamers are dead articles despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary. "
