I thought teenage anime fans were the entire audience for this game, but I have just been informed otherwise
I watched the Mighty No 9 trailer and the Goat Simulator trailer back to back and I’m like, one of these understands its audience and the other is completely oblivious to it.

On the other hand, as someone who is most likely not the audience for either of those, I now know exactly what it is like to play Mighty No. 9 and have absolutely no idea what the hell Goat Simulator even is. Is it a game or an extremely poorly animated cartoon?

there are a few different studios trying to make a plausible genre out of this and I’d love to see one succeed!

It’s an artist competence thing. Bionic Commando Rearmed is the same genre and basic engine type and that looks good.
It’s surprising because Inafune’s skillset is in illustration to begin with, but I suspect that’s the problem. Like he’s mediocre and exercises stifling control over it, driving away talent.

oh man they finally removed all that awful bloom and color filtering garbage. I wonder if the mechanics will be more interesting than yet-another-3d-cinematic-platformer
