My favorite drink is water with no ice and my favorite game is Street Fighter

This is the one here. Different days for different regions, tho!

Yeah, modern probably feels a whole different game at a top level. But lemme tell ya, you could still jump in on me because I still fumble my thumbs sometimes. But my pardnr ordered a hitbox that I’m gonna try out which should help me with executions.

I looked at my win ratios against players the other day and god damn JPs and Dhalsims fuck me up. It’s so hard for me to get in on them, but I think that’s the nature of Ryu? I am going to try someone who can rush in a little better, like Cammy, when aforementioned hitbox comes in and to try playing classic. Learning this shit is so fun. Seconding what buckets said- I’ve also been real addicted to figuring out what works and learning how to implement stuff. More fun than math homework, even though the frames stuff is mathy at times too.

Ah ok, I might give it a go. A good learning experience maybe.

I’m finding my feet in platinum 1 now, I might be winning slightly more than I’m losing. Shame you can’t get win streak bonuses any more. But I feel more confident and closing out close matches I would have lost a week ago. Even getting wins against characters I usually struggle against. I love this game!

Yeah, JP and Dhalsim can be tough. Getting in on them is always easier said than done, then you’ve got to try and stay there. A dhalsim who uses the float and teleport are very frustrating.

Also figured out that Ken’s jinrai kick can be DI’d, which has been a big help in that matchup.

I keep looking at hitboxes. I use a hori controller at the moment and a stick or hitbox seems very tempting, but expensive.

Really love Aki’s look. Will probably play her a lot since I liked Fang’s gimmicks.

Ordered a mediocre burrito bowl thing yesterday from the big C-word because i really wanted the fight buxx to give my guy Ryu a new 'fit. but i got double owned because turns out you can only use the code they give you on consoles and i am playing on my computer. so! if anyone wants to reap the rewards of my fast food sins, lemme know and i’ll send that code yr way

I’m bronze baby, can’t keep these hands down!

New custom hitbox is helping a lot too. Much less strain than PS5 pad. This game is so fucking fun. Had a really close match with another Jamie and we were moving between tight back and forth and then goofing with drinks. Got to final round and we DC’d but they were a cool player. See you space cowboy.

it took a little of the sting out of the fact that they showed that match on stream instead of mena vs daigo

OK I had one of those “I’m an adult” moments and just grabbed a discounted key on the gray market so I can press buttons in Street Fighter. The last time I dabbled, I played 20-30 hours of Laura in SFV. Her general game plan (and most of her execution) is so simple that I forgot how hard SF is.

I’ve already watched an hour-long YouTube video about Manon’s neutral and spent almost as much time trying to consistently land one of Guile’s standing target combos into a flash kick in training mode. It’s a very narrow charge window. Honda is delightfully straightforward, but even with him I can tell that optimizing damage is either going to tie my fingers in knots or require reaction times I don’t have.

To keep my expectations low, I’ve decided you “win” Street Fighter if you can just play it without making a part-time job of researching specialized controllers online. I’m currently losing.

i’ve come to grips with the truth that i am 36 and my hands aren’t getting any nimbler and embraced modern controls.

i am so clearly a better player when basic execution issues melt away, keeping me mostly present in the moment to moment tactical thinking that makes me love these games

We all must embrace a post-modern world.

Fr it’s just nice to play the game than resent your own body/Capcom
