For a long time I’ve thought the opening of ALI is one of the strongest slices of pure filmmaking of Mann’s career and motion pictures in general. Seeing it on the Big Screen almost brought me to tears.

i just watched the empire in africa and i want to sink into the earth knowing the united nations in it’s current form will never be dismantled or forced to seriously own up to anything. the epilogue watches like a hidden “very bad” ending of a game. it’s unhealthy that i’m comparing it to something like that but it’s just that absurd, god

I finally got around to seeing Triple Nine and boy is that not as cool as a movie about corrupt cops murdering a police officer to provide a distraction to break into a Homeland Security blacksite should have been. Let alone the disappointment coming off of Hillcoat’s The Proposition and Lawless (having skipped The Road).
Shout out for having a shoot-out set to DJ Screw tho
Lawless was one of the most OK movies I have ever seen. (I wish that stood for Oklahoma but it doesn’t.)
Worth it for another Hardy accent alone, but. Yeah.
Tom Hardy Being Unintelligible in New Ways is one of the main reasons to keep going to the movies on this garbage planet
