MUWT 2: The Quickening

its kind of weird to me how people gawking at cats and star wars have totally dominated twitter movie discussion lately, and Bombshell, which basically seems designed For The Discourse, has been entirely ignored as far as i can tell

It’s definitely a bad take, I agree. I just understand how he could’ve come to that conclusion but honestly sleeping on it I think he didn’t even watch The Irishman and read a synopsis somewhere instead because like you said, categorizing it as ā€œanti-unionā€ is really bizarre. If that’s the case he is in fact kind of a moron

the irishman is about as anti-union as blue collar

I know Ripped From Some Korean Streaming Service isn’t the ideal Gemini Man experience. It’s only 30fps! But the decisions made to support the intended HFR presentation still leave signs, like We Tried To Keep The Stage Makeup As Light As Possible So It Wouldn’t Show On Camera leaving Clive Owen looking like Bruno Ganz?

uncut gems made me so physically uncomfortable by the end i was shifting in my chair constantly waiting for something to happen because my dread was overwhelming me

wife turned to me first thing this morning on my friends futon and said ā€œI’m still angry about that movieā€

oh i thought you were just with a group of work friensd or something, i would have met your wife and now i feel rude

also i am glad i read a full plot summary of this movie so i don’t have to see it

i respect the sandman making these kinds of movies but for me everything i’ve heard about the safdie brothers movies makes them sound totally repellant and aggravating

like thing of indie movies being about horrible people making bad choices and then dying was something i was glad died out with the last generation of people trying to be tarantino, i’m not ready for it to be revived again

I didn’t think bad people making bad choices and dying was a thing that ever died out in movies

probably true! it’s been awhile since one has got this much attention though? idk

replying to a 6 month old post here, but I just saw the film and I’m wondering do you remember where you saw that?

uncut gems

the thing i liked is you absolutely know hes going to fucking die. like 10 minutes in you’re like ā€˜god this asshole is going to die i know it! we all know it!’ and its how the movie uses sound and scenery and voices to play on top of that anxiety of the looming death. just every time he turns a corner, every time a door is opened. ALLL THE TIME ALWAYS. ANXIETY

it helps that the movie is over two hours too. because for the last 25 minutes your movie watcher body is telling you the end HAS TO COME SOON so you squirm around in your chair as it just gets worse and worse

i used to always have nightmares where a monster would be running after me, and id realize it was a dream and give up and let the monster eat me. even after i knew it was a dream it was horrifying

this movies like this except i know its a nightmare the whole time and i cant wake up and i loved it and i will never see it again i might listen to a couple of songs off the soundtrack. oh id watch it on a date with someone who hasnt seen it before in like 10 years maybe

I didn’t get stressed out watching uncut gems because I decided instead I was going to think of it from his perspective and he just wants to risk as much as he can constantly, so I’m just watching someone who follows different rules have a good time living their own way. and then at the end, what a nice thing, he’s trying to explain and share his experience with someone

Yes, it was in this interview:

ahhh! i wish i could do that, what a nice thing indeed

last thought on the movie:

theres a red curvy phone on a shelf behind adam sandler in his office and it looks like one of the phones in the prisoner that number 2 uses to get called by number 1 on

but they wouldnt have the phone from the prisoner in the background would they
i mean thatd be a thing id put in the background of my movie that has real life memorabilia but also im a prisoner fanfuck and want references to it everywhere so someone will write paranoid fanfiction about a universe crossover
