MUWT 2: The Quickening

gosh I love the stylized voice in Network

check out Hospital if you want to see Paddy Chayefsky feed angry lines to George C. Scott, who reads them angrily

Michael Bay Netflix film has been delivered to expectations

Eurotrash is an agreeable frame for him because he’s still way more staccato than Luc Besson and no one else is really in this space

it’s truly remarkable that a person could employ this much emphatic slow motion and still disorient so consistently

oh, it’s a vacation movie?

I’m guessing Reynolds did The Hitman’s Bodyguard and saw what great scam it was

free European vacation, film some shitty movie, get paid

So I really liked Klaus on Netflix. After about the first 30 minutes most of the best gags are used up and it settles into a pretty standard arc but I was into it the whole time. It did manage to tug the heartstrings a bit. I loved the animation. Might be my new favorite ā€œsincereā€ Christmas movie?

Saw the Joker yesterday because I heard there’s a super subtle nu-metal nod. Turns out the Joker doesn’t really accomplish anything except by accident. It might be as much Being There as it is King of Comedy. In a way the movie is like the character—a slate everyone is just projecting onto?

Also saw Deadly Games—not the rad UPN series about the killer video game characters come to life. It’s a French movie that prefigures Home Alone but is a bit more Die Hard. It opens with a mulleted kid doing a badass work out sequence to a bootleg French version of Eye of the Tiger, and ends with Bonnie Tyler singing Happy Birthday Christmas. Somewhere in the middle a public internet terminal is part of the plot.

I watched the michael bay movie and i thought the car chase was amazing and the rest kind of sucked or w/e but i laughed at all the bad jokes bc i have literally the sense of humor of a 12 year old boy, the autoerotic asphyxiation bit had me in stitches

took til now for the limey to get a bluray release. it was the only movie I ever had a hd vhs rip of

I blind bought a Limey VHS when I was like 17 and would put it on my tiny bedroom CRT at night

watched it up to the montage that keeps cutting to Stamp walking in front of a wall before falling asleep

I’d wake up to static and turn the television off and punch rewind

I don’t know how long it took me to actually watch the whole thing
