MUWT 2: The Quickening

usually you can’t find someone who is that trashy and self aware and European, the combination is too unstable

ok I just rewatched the beginning and I have terrible news

it’s set a little too early for the “cardinal’s” passing out of bread as the host to be plausible this is squarely in Elevation and Adoration range

this probably a fatal error that means the entire movie is cancelled now???

extremely fucked up verhoeven >: |

OUATIH is kind of the most subdued yet self indulgent QT film.

Saw the '69 spin and Hollywood pivot coming a mile away, the dread coursing through it was pretty good though.

I’m apparently not part of the cult that enjoys From Dusk Till Dawn, speaking of Quentin Tarantino. Perfect casting of himself as the Dick, though!

what happens to the rooster

idk there hasn’t been a rooster yet

thus far our 19th Century Sikh Soldier Hero has been extra oppressed by his British Overlords for ignoring their orders and interfering with an honor killing by some Extremely Racially Caricatured Afghani Folks

there are no english subtitles for the arabic dialogue

there have been two jokes about english words sounding like hindi words so the lead + his buddy think The Colonials are saying one thing but we the audience know they said something else? puns!

Sikh Soldier Hero is being transferred to another fort and the Nurse is sad that he’s going so now we have an extended music video in which they have an imaginary romance that involves modern costuming; a love beyond space and time (before this scene said Nurse was mentioned in dialogue once, then appeared in the immediate prior scene for three seconds to be slightly catty about him talking to the afghani woman he saved from Racist Stereotypes?)

I guess we’re getting somewhere

there were shots of roosters standing on chairs

then some people claimed to have cooked the roosters, off screen

no poultry trauma has been depicted

OUATIH has some of Tarantino’s all time best scenes (cliff at the ranch, margot robbie as tate watching tate, everything surrounding rick’s guest spot on tanner) but I’m unsure of how i feel about it as a whole. thinking it would be better if it was either a hour longer or shorter.

I’m still not sure if I missed something of bigger impact/meaning to this scene. There may not be more than meta rock candy strewn about as he always does, her picking up the book under their (Polanski’s) name and this in tandem it felt, extra fluffy I guess? In order of everything.

There’s a whole lotta cotton; mostly felt like character building steps to the finale. Not weak or unusual for Tarantino just extra airy as a story imo, being toward 3 hours already. Yeah Cliff at the ranch was a scorcher. Pitt smarm navigating tension.

Also two big servings of feet, possibly more on the side I didn’t notice

Have you seen Abel Ferrara’s version? It’s so damn good and no one really talks about it!

i had no idea it existed! i will have to check that out

a bit of the Detective Pikachu score is lifted from Tangerine Dream’s Rubycon

I thought everyone would like to know

there was music in detective pikachu? like, besides pikachu cry-singing the pokemon theme and other pokemon brand songs?

turns out

i think tangerine dream has a peanuts-teacher affect on me it just goes right through me

thats supposed to be the point though right? i the only time i remember noticing their music was when i downloaded the wrong rip of INFERNO and it had a tangerine dream soundtrack that totally clashed with the movie
