its not nearly annoying enough for me

i saw Once Upon a Time in Hollywood last night. i liked it! it was sort of what i was hoping it might be; a continuation of the direction i felt like i was seeing in The Hateful Eight. just a nice love letter to LA kind of thing. my date did not like it, and that’s fair.

i just dont remember it at all! like i was probably overwhelmed by how cute and good the movie was

i put on a documentary called cat heaven island to look at cute cats but its ACTUALLY a documentary about how the earthquake and tsunami fucked up everything on the island and the population is dwindling and everythings dying

like they were built a bunch of cabins and were gonna change the name of the island to manga island because a famous mangaka was gonna move there but he died before so the project got abandoned

so i was like well maybe the movie made people move there

NOPE as of 2018 there are 13 residents and the averafe age is 75 and they’ve started fixing all the cats because theres not gonna be people to take care of them anymore

like theres good moments of community working hard together, and everyone knows eachother and supports eachother, someone even said 'there is no such thing as a lower class person here" but its very much a terminal community

this lady fuckin rules tho

the oldest man ever is singing the theme song of the island while everyone claps along and i cant stop crying

my review of The Lion King (2019):

the sheer amount of money spent and time and effort of countless creative, technical and corporate professionals exerted in creating this film is proof that there is a God and He is trying to inflict maximum sadness on the world

this film is why the terrorists hate us

the song Can You Feel The Love Tonight was sung during a scene that takes place in broad daylight and they released it like this

I know I’ve joked that “lol Disney made an anime because none of the characters can emote” but it’s far more worse than any kind of joke could ever begin to approach

can you imagine the good that could be done in the world if we took the $1B+ spent seeing it and did literally any kind of charitable work

I’m actually angry that I heard people applaud at the end

Timon and Pumbaa were still funny

For sweet old Japanese people taking good care of cats and each other, I would strongly recommend the documentary Peace by Kazuhiro Soda (which is rentable on Vimeo here). I loved it, a total feel good film, and it gives you an interesting perspective on elder and disability care in Japan.

There is this movie I saw once at a showroom at Magfest years ago that I swear exists, but I cannot find any evidence of such a movie ever having happened.

It’s a Japanese movie that takes place on an island. A girl investigates a mystery, and near the end of the movie, she is chased to a radio tower by legions of zombies I think? She climbs the tower, pursued by the zombies, and the moment one of them grabs her, she wakes up and it was a dream.

LOL. That’s the Siren movie.

It isn’t very good!

I watched the first two Mission Impossible movies on J-Prime. They are both canvas to show off the director’s ideosyncrices. DePalma and Woo are written all over both films. The language of films and pop culture really changed between 96 and 2000 as well. It is in no way a coherent series with these two.

Oh Salt, Ultraviolet, and Aeon Flux. Three movies that are the same movies in my mind. Maybe I will watch that instead.

In short 2 is better than 1 because 1 is mixed between barely whisper and explosion and 2 is mumbled talking and Limp Bizkit did the theme?

THAT’S IT, holy shit that’s been driving me bonkers for years.

At last my soul is free. Thank you.

Metallica also did a song for MI2

Also, no way 2 is better than 1. I watched the first 3, like 6 months ago. I knew 2 was bad, but was quite a bit worse than I had remembered. 3 I had always thought was decent. But no, its really super boring.
