yeah this does look way better

i havent seen heriditary because the premise isnt interesting to me in the slightest

so ill probably watch your suggestion or paterson instead

phantom thread is soooo good. pta for life

i ended up watching paterson! gonna watch phantom thread tonight

i dont have much to say about paterson it was really straightforward in a good way. i liked that even the book covers matched the black/white bold pattern set design, and i like how said patterns ramped up through the movie

^the patterns are the best thing about paterson, they remind me of the junk text in kero blaster

invasion of the body snatchers ('78) is terrifying. it took me until 31 to understand just how terrifying

this is so bizarre, in top gun 2 tom cruise is wearing his own patches on his jacket that reference the first movie instead of his dad’s vietnam patches and people have decided to make this into something to throw a fit over chinese censorship for some reason.

gatdam censorship and state propaganda in my air force commercial

watching flesh and blood since shrug sold me on it and HOLY SHIT I LOVE THIS DISGUSTING HOG MOVIE

also the fucking proto showgirls hot tub flailing splashing sex scene!!!

shout out to broken leg crawling girl

its so so so so so hard not to headcanon rutger hauer as gerald. its a movie full of the loogie-hocking village npcs who swear at you and threaten to sexually menace your mother as you walk by

all of verhoeven’s early work is great like that, unfortunately most of it also has problems with sexual violence and doesn’t have the benefit of being set in a different era to try to half-justify it

i said aloud ‘yanno i think veerhoven is one of my favorite directors’ while watching

this movie sealed the deal

in the part where celine is chomping down on the birth stick she looks like shes asphyxiating on mars

i have complicated feelings about the hyper violent sex scenes, but they just make the men look SO BAD

the second half of the movie really taps into the cyst-lancing lover inside me

OH THAT SIEGE MACHINE IS SO COOL

every time someones about to get sick i just start chanting 'OOO PLAGUE! PLAGUE!"

i would probably tread more carefully with expressing how much i like this movie in different company, but everyone here already knows im disgusting so

all the sexual violence in his movies is so over the top and high impact that it always makes the men look incredibly monstrous so its complicated for me. the rape scene in showgirls is fucking nuts but its immensely satisfying when she fucks him up afterwards. obviously theres people i wouldnt recommend his stuff to or talk about it around lol

yeah I was just thinking of turkish delight when it’s painfully small scale

Elle is so ridiculously good and I can’t wait for his nunnery yuri movie.

shame they couldn’t get huppert back for that one but rampling is pretty good too

yeah I would never, ever casually recommend Flesh + Blood to anyone without a ton of qualifiers but when daphny said they were prioritizing I thought “they’ll be good”

there was so much i keep thinking about with that movie

  • when celine runs out SCOWLING AND HOWLING with her bloodied crotch
  • martin SHOVING the baby in his favorite mini barrel (IT WAS VERY GERALD WITCHER)
  • the way they do a thousand close-ups on the barefisted eating contest (it was like sweet movie!)
  • HOW MUCH MILEAGE THEY GOT OUT OF A DEAD DOG
  • the way the dog hunk just THUNKED out of the jug
  • everyones dour-ass faces

i kinda just wanna watch a movie about celine now
