saw Roar at a theater in portland. forgot to include it in my list of 16 favorites earlier. sad omission. incredible film that should not exist but im glad that it does.
i didnât realize there were multiple versions but the International Cut def has some amazing scenes that have for some reason been excised from the american blu-ray. that was slightly disappointing but still.
what a movie
fucking love that movie so goddamn much. i avoided it for so long because of the way it was marketed but its so much more than whatever company that owned it made it out to be
Dangerous Encounters of the First Kind is a very early Tsui Hark film. dreamlike thriller about 3 layabouts bullied into petty violence by a beautiful but unhinged young womanâdreamlike as it was originally heavily censored by the British administration of Hong Kong to remove any mention of bombs, and the redacted scenes had been added back in via low-quality videotape of the rushes
there is a bunch of animal cruelty in this, to drive in the unhingedness!
wearing glasses for the first time
tbf they deserved this for being pussies
good jokes
and
thereâs a macguffin involving a bunch of bad guys (Australians doing American accents) but the real bad guys are clear from the ending montage of photos from the 1967 Hong Kong riots (which prompted the censorship)
a rare movie I watched all the way through in one sitting
Trap was really fun.
gonna go see trap in a couple hours and I am definitely in the mood for fun
Please enjoy Toronto and Hamilton Ontario playing Philadelphia.
hahaha what a hoot. movie rocked, the hitman level half was perfect, and the close ups eventually won me over because of the hilarious facial movements
his daughter has a lot of âI wonder if this was the first takeâ because it just seems like he loved her a lot and didnât want to be mean, but God the way she said âitâs just the right amountâ had me hollering, totally worth it. I love amateur acting though like itâs why I watch john waters
AND HIS CAMEO AS HER UNCLE WAS FUCKING GREAT
oh and itâs also really neat how the daughter chatacter is never in danger and women are in control the whole time. it feels like red eye in that way
OH MY GOD THE HAYLEY MILLS PARENT TRAP IâM DYING THATS SO FUCKING FUNNY
m night so fucking cheeky!!!
I saw Twisters and my wife is a hairâs width away from leaving me for the tornado wrangler.
Glen Powell does have that effect on some people
I watched challengers recently and liked it so much more than I thought I would, but idk why people were talking abt it like itâs a gay movie. I mean I know why but it really feels like a âwow cool robotâ kind of read. also, saw a little too much of myself in zendayaâs character, so I guess itâs a âpicture that makes me reconsider thingsâ.
All Dogs Go to Heaven was âfineâ or âIâm trying to watch the movie!â. I swear I was paying attention but some of the scene transitions seemed non-existent. making Burt sing was a touch of genius, not the good kind
Call Me Miss Cleo was a short documentary, and it feels incredibly perfunctory. This would not fly as a youtube video. Itâs got some feel good vibes for the last half hour when it becomes about Miss Cleo coming out of the closet, though setting it up as a big reveal to the point of identifying her ex as âCleoâs Roommateâ for two thirds of the movie was really weak.
It is a bit of fun nostalgia for anybody whose ever worked as a telephone psychc before though.
Did you⌠Did you work as a telephone psychic??
For a little bit. It was pretty bad
what kind of training did they give you
You get a script to read from about welcoming them, getting their name and address so you can send them promotional materials. Youâve got a five page guide to cold reading and told to go to it. Itâs a work from home scam. There is no training.
watched the jacques tati movie playtime ln on a beautiful 70mm print⌠incredible movie. triple feature with whatâs up doc? and a confucian confusion??
