i guess gone girl is also basically set in the present although fincher seems like the kind of pervert who would make painstaking effort to make a movie made in 2014 feel like it was set in 2011
this is also why i think he always does this kind of shit with at least a little bit of a sense of humor
david fincher’s movies suck but at least deep down we can all tell he knows it

I think Zodiac is weirdly overrated too. Like even the cinematography and set design aren’t as interesting as in se7en which is otherwise kind of dumb but at least holds up as a great production
The only part of Zodiac I remember is how haphazardly the ending rushes to build stakes while still maintaining the “But we’ll never really know” aura, as if it’s not plainly obvious that’s what it’s doing.
