would v happily gift you a portion of the cost as a valentine’s day/birthday/christmas gift when my next paycheque comes thru so we can hang out in party chat, xo.
Man the last boss is a grind, not a particularly difficult one, just a million hp’s worth. I got the credits and killed a couple of tempered monsters but their whole schtick seems to be just to grind up random decoration rolls, not super compelling. I’ll be interested to see how they handle the G version, if they do the rerelease deal or put out dlc. Great game regardless.
there’s an even more immense grind past that but you’d have to really love hunting those monsters to get deep into it, it’s kind of crazy
anyway i’m gonna be off the monster hunter grid for about a week, so if any stragglers need a squad invite y’all should hit me up some time today!
i better see a bunch of you in tempered endgame mode when i get back!!!
I just need to finish my track investigation for the Rotten Vale to finish my elder dragon round up. So I should be there soon. And I hate to look like a flake but I haven’t been hunting with much SB peeps since I’m usually on when my roommates and local friends are on.
i do the same thing, really, i just went and added all my local buds to the squad too. which btw anyone should feel welcome to do imo!!!
was looking at my map in the coral highlands when a vespoid paralyzed me. my palico got so excited to help me he kicked me off a high cliff
They do this to me whenever I am stunned or paralyzed, is it meant to be helpful?
it is, though at first it can seem annoying. after a while in monhun you learn to roll with the hits that knock you away but do little to no damage (in much earlier entries, lesser monsters used to be much more aggressive toward you, even while you fought bigger monsters, and it drove me insane).
there have definitely been times where my palico has saved my bacon by knocking me out of the way of a monster’s attack, and those odd cases help reinforce the comedy of the mechanic, imo.
sounds like it’s meant to be catful imo
yeah getting paralyzed/put to sleep/stunned can get you killed in lots of situations, and having a cat knock you out of it early can definitely save your life
when one of those things is happening to a bud and i can line up an arrow on them and pop them out of it… this is one of the highest satisfactions of monster hunting
this gets said a lot by monhun “gurus” on youtube already, but I like how getting better armor/weapons in monhun lies in the difference between player and avatar strength. the numbers may be higher, but those numbers are attached to tools you have to use properly. I got complacent after reaching the credits and went into an arena quest against a low rank paolumu, thinking I’d bat it out in a second, and I got carted! The dude fuckin comboed me.
yeah! the great thing about monster hunter for me has always been it’s a game where the numbers go up, but the numbers don’t make you a better player. the real Number Going Up is you.
i missed the double kirin quest! that’s kind of a bummer.

today i stumbled into the ancient forest battle royale
the best part: i went after the pukei i came for, they all decided i was the real enemy and kept me permanently knocked down until i carted
Just soloed the HR49 Kirin and that was easily the most tense hunt I’ve had in this game so far. The final boss can take a number. Didn’t hurt that I was wearing a completely absurd outfit pieced together from whatever parts I could find that would raise my resistance.

welcome to the jungle / we got rocks and flames
Ty to all who helped me peacefully capture some giant dragons yesterday, those fights really make me realize how ineffective these knives are against the huge guys, and how much more practice I need
Also @HOBO what weapon do you use? It is beautiful
This one? It’s the Buon Fiore. Poison hammer. I wouldn’t have expected a poison hammer to be good but it seems like it’s just fine. Playing fashion hunter is hard and I’m once again regretting not making a guy hunter cuz some of these armors are u-g-l-y.
I have no clue who anyone is on PSN but I owe someone an apology for flubbing their short time limit quest. I wasn’t paying attention! I’m usually a better hunter than that I swear.
I feel like there’s way more running from zone to zone in this one than recent titles and it’s fucking exhausting. Are there hidden shortcuts that I’m not aware of?
You can unlock some shortcuts generally through sidequests/deliveries and apparently (i read this only after beating the damn game) the camps you unlock you can also fast travel to in-mission. Would’ve saved me massive headaches everytime some flying asshole takes off to the other side of the map 10 stories up.
flower hammer is the first monster hunter weapon i ever super fell for, though back then it was paralysis, which was way better
