Also a reminder that Samurai Shodown’s rollback beta starts this Friday.
In terms of lowest input delay it’s probably still MAME.
Apparently the SamSho rollback netcode beta is starting at 8am Japan time, which means it’s already started. SNK has a post about it on Steam saying to expect it to be a bit buggy (and they’ve disabled spectating for now due to bugs), and that they’re going to do a second beta later.
Samurai Shodown is also on sale. You can get the game + all three seasons of DLC for $20 ($16 for a bundle with the game, season 1, and season 2, and each season 3 DLC character is on sale individually for $1.50). There’s no reasonably priced collection for this game on Steam otherwise, so normally everything is full price. So if you’re curious at all about the game, it’s a good time to try it out.
Similarly, King of Fighters 15 is also on sale and I think is supposed to have crossplay coming soon.
Yeah, this is a beta alright. It’s pretty buggy, but that’s the point of the test afterall. It still feels better than what it had before, even if half my matches permanently desync on this build.
Edit: A few patches later, it’s gotten a lot more stable.
All the game news mentions I’ve seen of this have cast it as a WIP potential update of the current game, Fighting EX Layer. For instance:
Been really enjoying the stuff trickling out about Tekken 8. The game probably has too many particle effects for its own good but I like how they’re differentiating characters a bit more with unique mechanics and new/reworked animations for each. They really need to put out a more accessible heat system one-pager if they’re hoping newcomers want to get into it though. Even if it doesn’t pay off at least it feels like a bigger design leap than we’ve seen since Tekken 4.
The most froth I have for a big budget game atm.
arcsys plz nerf this character is too op
Team Battle mode could be a nice addition.
Also, they kind of buried it until the end of the showcase, but a SF6 demo is out now on PS4 and PS5:
Sounds like it’s mostly doing create-a-fighter stuff in World Tour. Of the regular cast, only Luke and Ryo are playable, apparently–that’s per comments on EventHubs, and I guess explains why I wasn’t seeing much actual fighting when I checked Twitch streams.
the avatar battle stuff could be kinda fun to mess around in, but I can’t say I ever see myself playing world tour mode in the first place to unlock all the moves or whatever, so rip.
Looks like they’ve added everything I loved about a lot of older fighting games with single-player that lasts longer than 30 minutes. Team battle, the audio accessibility, and character creator with custom movesets are things I’ll likely play around with a lot.
i really liked how the beta felt, after hating how 5 played. such high hopes for this.
The single player in SF6 is so mind blowing to me. That’s almost an entire new game on top of an entire game.
please tell me lil wayne is one of the announcers
definitely looking forward the sensational freaks the character shop can make
