Max Payne / Alan Wake / Quantum Break / Control

i told it to just DL the tv show episodes but xbl is also having download interruptions right now too so the whole enterprise is just full of shit

for the pirated version you could download a 100 gig version that included the show or one that still just connected to the streaming servers like a normal copy

i cant get the streaming to work with wi-fi or ethernet, apparently the streaming service might just be down or non-operational. the episodes DL for me stalls out at 0.5% on my xbox so i guess ill just leave it and see what happens!!

it started downloading normally again so i guess my recommendation to anybody playing this on xbone is DOWNLOAD THE EPISODE PACK before you start playing

Getting caught up to speed with this thread, can someone give me a quick primer on why SB doesn’t recognize the brilliance of MP3? I was under the impression we respected it.

Skimming through I’ve seen several posts of people saying remedy hasn’t released anything truly great since MP2

Remedy didn’t make 3

and those were all felix posts and wrong anyway, since quantum break was truly great.

It’s ridiculous that Rockstar haven’t rereleased Max Payne 3 on current generation consoles.

According to the max payne 3 prequel comic, written by dan houser and sam lake, max literally just came from his 2nd favorite place to visit, the graveyard, before he went to his 1st favorite place, the bar where he meets passos. As you know from the game passos and him end up in a skirmish with some mobsters. passos talks him into fleeing into security work out of the country, but before they go max wants to visit the graveyard he just came from and they end up getting ambushed and passos is nearly killed. It makes sense though, he didn’t know it was going to be the last time before, he wasn’t ready.

they had gun specific trailers for max payne 3 and people threw a fit about this line in the 1911 one, because of course max is known for being a beretta 92 user. rockstar released another trailer that removed the line. but the beretta was his issued weapon, how do you know the 1911 wasn’t his actual favorite? perhaps that’s why ā€œthe beretta stirred nervously under his coat,ā€ because he was more at home with a M1911A1? It wouldn’t be out of character at all for someone like max to be a 1911 nut.

In max payne 3, chronologically he starts out with a basic milspec ww2 style 1911 at home, while living on his pension and going to the graveyard and the bar everyday. Later he’s joined up with Passos and his security company and by their 2nd job on the cruise ship in panama, he’s caught up to modern times and has a glock. then once settled down in sao paulo, he’s obtained the brazilian copy of the beretta, the taurus pt92.

Did he go back to the beretta because it was his favorite and is relaxed and settled into something resembling a life again or is he just going back to what he’s comfortably accrued the most bodies with? or just because it’s the totem tied to that mystical backwhen time? for somebody as stuck attempting to relive emotions from the past to fill the nothing that is his life, even when the only notable events of his past were murder sprees, it’s hard to say for sure what he might feel about anything he does, or what’s genuine and what’s reenactment in an attempt to reach something genuine.

I would bet though that however emotionally dead he’s become about other things his love of weapons is undiminished, whatever his preferences.

Interestingly, he starts the final level, the airport, with a desert eagle, mona sax’s gun. He’s completely forgone any pretense of being on the side of the law and taken her path as a hired gun, though he also still has his glock from his security job as well, and he is here to kill the kind of people she protected. So he’s trying. Really once he starts killing cops I don’t think he should feel near as bad as he does, but how do you tell someone whose been a depressed cop asshole type his whole life that’s he’s finally doing right with this latest murder spree.

This thread got me interested in what y’all will think of Control. I don’t think I’ll play it but it’s good to hear that Remedy didn’t fall off like I thought they did. All I heard about Wake/Break was mediocre to negative so it’s good to know that’s not true

Hmm, Ancestors (Assassin’s Creed as EVO/Cubivore/Tokyo Jungle) comes out the same day and looks like a terrible implementation of my favorite conceit…

Oh come on Eurogamer this is played as a (very funny) joke

I mean, there ARE too many emails and posters and lore dinguses, that’s probably the worst part of the game, but this is a bad example

will go into my ever-growing list of games i still need to play, that includes AW thanks to the Quantum Break pack-in, QB, State of Mind, and now this.

:sunglasses:
kind of good to know that i can still find games i actually want to play, even if i don’t get around to do so very often these days.
