Anybody else having annoying motion blur every time you move the camera? Idk if it’s just my rig is too old or what but there’s nothing really for it in the Display settings. I don’t remember Quantum Break bugging me with it.

V excited to start this in a couple days

I definitely remember quantum break having that but I haven’t noticed it here, but I feel like it was worse in the busted windows store version

There are a lot of temporally-based effects in this game (where the effect is accumulated over multiple frames) and it leads to ā€˜ghosting’ artifacts when things move over high-contrast areas. Switching away from temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) is usually the quickest way to fight this but it looks like that’s not an option here; instead you’re dealing with accumulated effects in the screen-space reflections, ambient occlusion, volumetric lighting. So I don’t think there’s really a solution.

I’m using the raytracing pipeline and getting similar issues, as current raytracing relies on accumulating rays over multiple frames.

It’s unfortunately going to become the most common artifact in the next few years; Red Dead 2 looks incredible but also has incredible ghosting.

Nvidia’s guide has probably the most in-depth explanations you’ll get of the settings if you want to poke around on PC.

there was a ā€œ-noblurā€ command line thing for quantum break and alan wake maybe it’ll work for control

Thanks you two! The only thing about -noblur that makes me a little hesitant is from what I read apparently it made the creepy shaky guys in Quantum Break uhhh, not shaky and ended up being silly looking so if there’s some kind of effect that needs it somewhere in Control I’d rather not ruin the fun. That’s pretty niggling though so I might give that one a shot either way.

Picked this up today and it’s gorgeous! The sound design is really nice too. Dunno where it’s going, but I like the tone so far.

daphny put on the digital foundry video for this game and its really embarrassing for everyone involved how badly this game runs on the original xbox one/ps4, like every fight is 15 or lower fps and full of stuttering. it looks fucking terrible which is a shame because this game looks SO good on something that can actually run it. guess i made the right choice by planning to get it on xbox one x

Oh no, that is a shame. Isn’t that the exact thing console makers said wouldn’t happen with their half step consoles? It’s pretty shitty to base console owners.

Yeah, at this point, I am just holding off for the next gen and skipping a lot of the high requirement games because why would I do that to myself?

so far this has ran pretty good on my ancient 670 but if this was anything but a remedy game coming out in august, i.e. a chance to huff nostalgia fumes of playing max payne 1 exactly 18 :older_man: years ago, I would of held off until I had some kind of rtx card

I watched the base PS4 footage in that video and sent my copy straight back to Amazon. I’ll hold out for a patch or I’ll play it on PS5 in 18 months. No way I’m gonna get a PS4pro this late in the cycle.

its exactly the kind of thing i was worried about when they announced the pro and why i waited to buy a ps4 until it was out. the original xbox one can barely play the fucking pre-rendered cutscenes! this game is the most egregious example i’ve ever seen but there’s several other games that run like complete shit on a regular ps4 too. dynasty warriors 9 is nearly unplayable on a regular ps4, metro exodus doesn’t run great on a pro so i imagine regular ps4 users have it much worse, and even like destiny 2 is starting to run like complete shit on a regular ps4 if my roommate trying to play it the other day is any indication. i think it will only be more glaring of an issue as we get closer to the end of this console generation

yeah im on a 1060 that hasn’t gone <60fps in anything i’ve played yet and i’m thinking this is a pass until i upgrade

or at least when it isn’t Ā£50

yeah this seems like the first thing that a 1070 equivalent needs to run on medium rather than high

this is around the time in most console generations when PC ports start to chug so I don’t think it’s strictly about the pro consoles but still a bummer, a base PS4 has been Fine for almost everything up to this year

remedy are good optimizers generally as well so I guess they just really wanted to go hog wild with the postprocessing
