Belome is so fucking cute i always loved the uncanny 3D sprite models in this game because they looked inscrutable but the animated 3D brings out their wild cute designs, smrpg:lotss has some of the best character designs in all of Mario and thats saying simerhing wow aaaa

i always thought the animation for going down the line to yoster isle was funny, but how the screen fades away and then yoshis island is all sad and alone on this completely different screen bummed me out. i guess thats where it BELONGS since its BULLSHIT and they tuck it off to the side so you dont have to THINK about it, BUT BECAUSE WE’RE IN THE FUTURE NOW ITS A CONTINUOUS SHOT INSTEAD OF CUTTING TO A NEW SCREEN. im glad they still kept it way the fuck out of the way becuase i dont want to think about it

more floating in the sky levels. they really didnt go overboard with filling out the edges at all

ah i love how blocky even the background levels are though. okay im over floating islands this game just does it right i think. im fully new mario rpg background pilled

oh the actual battle stages, like when you’re actually fighting dudes are a lot less ugly now. it really shows in the mines

(wow the nostalgia for the portrait UI is already wearing off even though every time i see the font i feel sad. the punctuation marks in the smrpg font alone give it soooo much more personality when people talk. every time i do a direct font comparison its gutting)

im just gonna post a fontless shot so i can be less unhappy

there are SO many variations of this brown battle stage in mario rpg. its like in every cavern, in the mines, in the volcano, etc. these stupid brown floors with a slightly different shaped brown background

the stage doesnt cut off behind the party anymore, so it doesnt feel like you’re being transported to a weird fight arena every time. which maybe some peopel liked, but it pulled me out a lot and now when i get in fights i still feel like im actually in the dungeon that i picked the fight in. i dunno. the floating island thing is stylistic and neat but i like this too. it turns out im gonna love both these games and no one can do a damn thing about it

GETTING ROBBED IN MY SLEEP STILL. does something different happen when you dont jump on the clown spring? do you have to jump on this to progress story? ill never know becuase i jump on it the second i see it. SPRINGS!
