is there a repo where all the decomp ports are being distributed? I would like to try what’s available, or I could try porting Areogauge

found a handful here

and this is the recomp person

i found other decomp projects out there, but i don’t know how far along they are? a lot of them seem to not have an exe file to build the rom (which the PD port does) and you have like, compile the source so i don’t know if there’s a plan to make those more straightforward and i’m assuming they’re not done yet anyway

oh here’s the download to the builds of the Perfect Dark decomp i found GitHub - fgsfdsfgs/perfect_dark: work in progress port of n64decomp/perfect_dark to modern platforms

getting old and tired of devs using short, snappy descriptors like “90s anime”, “Saturday morning cartoon”, 80s/Hong Kong action movie and then seeing footage and yelling that no, that’s not what Thing looked or was like

so anyway, who will make the first game to claim the 90s anime look and base the visual identity of their art design off of Super Pig

I know that “[game] is [genre combination] inspired by [aesthetic]” is probably the SEO-optimal description for games, but it’s SO boring.

I do actually think those devs did themselves a disservice by trying to slot their game’s look into a category like that. I think it stands on its own

me, super pig is the best

I can’t see someone searching Steam for 90s anime but then again wasn’t “sad rap” like the number one search term on Spotify or something.

it’s optimizing to the tagging system and recommendation algo more than keywords. searching is for finding something intentionally vs clicking around on what’s presented to you by the stores

Video is set to private.

Nice to know it’s not dead, though.

With n64 recomps being possible the best version of megaman legends might soon be the n64 port

omg

I was trying to think of other N64 games I’d want to play at 60FPS and could only think of like Sin & Punishment, Wetrix and Pokemon Stadium, but hell yeah Megaman Legends/64 let’s go

I wonder if anyone’s tried yet

i got around to watching the video and i realized it is not about the (numerous) n64 decomp projects but an automated tool (that needs manual massaging after) that recomps shit… that is absolutely bonks and i had no idea.

this would absolutely allow Beetle to work at 60 FPS without bullshit because it just runs logic at the original game speed and all the extra frames are handled with interpolation - which also looks astoundingly good in the way they’ve implemented it here

pretty impressed. same as liz, i humbly request, nay, ignobly demand to see fucken Iggy’s Reckin’ Balls in 4K 60FPS. DEMAND IT
