wayforward more like waybackward

get minter to do a yars game tbh

was it wayforward who made a bunch of surprisingly good licensed games on the ds? batman: the brave and the bold, the mighty thor, and aliens infestation were particularly well received iirc

but also “get minter to do it” seems like the most logical response to “how do we revive this pre-gradius shooting game?”

Oh yeah, oops

those games are from back when they still had Henk Neiborg doing pixels and virt doing the music though — ever since they pivoted to 3D graphics i have no idea what has kept people enamored with the company.

Looks like it’s a platformer too!? Weird way to approach Yar’s

okay there’s some gameplay in the second half of this video on nintendo’s channel (0:44)

it looks like a treacly 2.5D metrovania with stealth mechanics

the classic yars gameplay is now a hacking minigame (this one looks like a tutorial or something):

oh and i guess their actual take on the original game will be menu option:

Nibris did A Raid Over the River on DS years ago,

and apparently there was a PS4 downloadable game I saw on yourtub while I was looking for videos for the Nibris game

listen it is extremely important for your 60% original source beep boop baby music to sound clean and professional

That’s fair, though I think his design and aesthetic styles would suit Yar very well

i have love and nostalgia for that scene, just not for virt (or a lot of other people who got popular out of it for that matter…). too much Dream Theater-type shit

This Yar game is good, incidentally:

Outside of like the Minibosses, Temp Sound Solutions was the only other guitar centric act from that era that didn’t seem like a big nerd.

To be fair a lot of that NES game music was itself wanna be ywnge or emerson, lake and Palmer anyway though.

so much of old game music is completely prog pilled

I don’t think I had ever heard an example of progressive rock when I came across this song as a kid.

i like prog a lot better when Tim Follin does it tbh. maybe it’s just the limitations of the hardware but it makes it into something i actually really enjoy listening to rather than the usual bloated cocaine D&D nerds wanking themselves off

I love prog but the nerds always want to be fucking porcupine tree instead of gentle giant or happy the man. teenage Tim Follin had much better taste.
