After not releasing new builds for Windows for most of the summer, RCPS3 has got some Windows builds out in the past few days; they have indeed moved from Visual Studio to compiling with Clang from the sound of things. Looks like they’ve had some build failures but others have gone through, so maybe still working out a few hitches in the process here and there.

This showed up in my recommends and I think it’s supposed to be a very slick emulation front-end for Android devices with a Windows version that potentially happen sometime in the far future. It sure looks neat but I kind of worry that when these things start advertising “Social connectivity” that perhaps they are getting a bit too bold for everyone’s good.

This looks cool but front ends are always so annoying to setup, especially with romhacks or translated games. I’ve tried using two and always give up and go back to running the emulators directly

There’s gotta be better ways to emulate and upscale/bumpFR without losing the “haziness”, right?
I’m talking the Vanguard fight ~4:08 specifically, but everywhere really.

That looks like it might not be a pure upscaling issue but there’s some kind of inaccuracy in the emulation as well. The balance of colors changes a lot. (I’d have to see a comparison of emulating at 720p resolution to be sure though.)

personally i’d be hesitant to draw any conclusions from a video from june 2020 on an emulator that’s been in pretty heavy active development since then. might be worth trying it yourself

For Demon’s Souls RPCS3 recommends using the “Write Color Buffers” settings to fix some graphical issues, that may be what’s causing the graphics to come out somewhat darker.
There’s also a recommended patch that disables motion blur, and that–disabling the blur I mean–may be in use here.

I keep thinking about installing this on Steam Deck…it sounds like it can run some (but definitely not all) games more or less “OK enough.”
Probably just use it for…Demon’s Souls and Yakuza Dead Souls. Maybe also, I dunno, Folklore?

now that I’ve actually gotten to use the thing I started up ace combat zero cuz I knew it had fmv cutscenes which did not work good on usb so it’s crazy they managed to solve that problem using the memory card slot. Also it tells you the name of the game you’re running through OPL on the little screen. It’s like a fucked up VMU where you have to access 95% of its functions through a webui because it’s you know still Memory Card (8MB)(for PlayStation2®) form factor but its just so awesome to look at (ours is actually colored its blue it reminds me of the gba sp) and works super good so far. you dont even need to do the shit i did yesterday, naturally ofc, I just wanted to have the ability to put my existing saves on it easier.

gog has got some early total war games up on there now and these versions of shogun and medieval I was able to get working with dgvoodoo no problem. gog just needs to fix nocturne and rustin parr for me now
