xemu has a vulkan renderer option now
unfortunately trying to use the autohdr reshade addon results in that. but then it wasn’t that long ago using reshade at all threw up a bunch of errors

Xemu’s vulkan renderer seems to run worse than ogl in every game I have tried
tears of the kingdom using citron (still the best yuzu fork imo) with nvidia cards:
runs great. only issues i’ve seen:
sometimes the swirly blue lines teleportation effect breaks. maybe it depends on what else is in the scene. only lasts a few seconds and looks kinda cool even when glitched, so. low impact
you have to use the custom keyboard applet or the game will crash after you try to register a horse
sometimes the purple-green effect on shrines gets messed up and infects the skybox somehow. seems rare, only seen this once
i think that’s it. beyond those very minor and low impact issues, it seems perfect.
just was reading back over this thread and saw this and felt inspired to check out xenia a bit more (originally checked out the goldeneye 007 xbla remake dump a few years back) since i hadn’t already. gotta get ready for that poverty mindset to prepare for the uncertain future and get back into emulation, as if i didn’t have like 1000 Steam games already. also i pretty much missed this console generation entirely but don’t have enough interest to get into collecting for it.
downloaded a handful of games that seemed fully compatible on the latest list. grabbed Bangai-O HD, Hard Corps - Uprising, Sega Rally Online Arcade and a few others. started playing through Silent Hill Downpour because it was on the compatibility list and it runs pretty good overall aside from occasional slowdown and some very minor graphical glitches. honestly it’s a very solid Silent Hill game so far aside from maybe being a bit early 2010’s edgy. Skate 3 is also supposed to run well too so i’ll probably check that out
General tip for you and anyone else trying out xenia: if a game is running poorly or has problems, you might want to try the game in xenia canary
Its the official experimental fork of xenia so it often has game fixes that haven’t migrated to the main release yet
if you use XeniaManager it will prompt to download the latest Xenia Canary for you on launch, and you can also click a cloud button in most games’ config screen to have it autoconfigure with best known settings
The magic trick to Xenia (360 emulation) is F5 will fix Vertex Explosions. This changes quite a fee things for me.
splinter cell doesn’t have the graphical glitches it used to have in xemu now though I did enjoy getting to see all the dead trees through the walls that they put outside just for the shadows they’d cast
I hope that one day in my lifetime they make a Nintendo 64 emulator that is good.
good news, ares is good
(gopher64 and rmg are both also good options if ares is too heavy duty for your needs)
I hope in my lifetime N64 decomps cover the entire library so I can play Sin & Punishment at 120 FPS at 16k
Turns out I can’t run Gopher64 because my processor is too old! Fuck!
ed: someone on the discord is gonna compile a version that uses AVX1
you could also try using simple64 which is the now-discontinued predecessor project to gopher64
simple64 ALSO requires AVX2 instruction set on the CPU. I really need to upgrade my shit…great timing me.
probably works on my laptop though
ah i have the build of gopher 64 but Sin and Punishment still runs like garbo. Quest 64 runs good though lmao.
edit: at least I can see sin and punishment even if it runs slow. p64 could not display it at all
While I do not like linking this guy he does deliver the goods. Excited to see a lot of games now playable!!
Any reason you don’t like linking him? How has he wronged you, Rudie??
Inscrutable tiny reasons that don’t mean anything.
i just 100% can’t stand his voice and the always-rushed, breathless delivery he uses
