instead, I would implore these people to consider that maybe you don’t need 900+ monsters and also you have unhealthy attachments to things that don’t exist

Imho whichever 'mon make it into Sword & Shield from the previous generations will be a good indicator of whether they’ve got good taste in their own designs.

the problem isn’t “I can’t have EVERY pokemon in the game???”
it’s “What if the ones I like the most don’t make it in?”
My favorite pokemon by like, a billion zillion miles is Mareep, and if I found out it couldn’t even be TRADED into the game, then this game would be cancelled for me. All my motivation to play it would just go down the drain.
And I would be sad.

i mean yes it’s ignorant to call the game freak developers lazy or speculate on how hard it is to implement all these beasts but i mean i can comprehend people’s emotional reaction to hearing that the virtual pet that you’ve been moving from game to game with you since 2002 has finally reached the end of the line

Compromise: You can transfer your old Pokemon in, but they only appear as an inscription on a headstone in the PokeCemetary

you could make the vault a retirement home, make the pokemon so geriatric and weak in battle that you want them gone
then have the game give those pop up notices about turning off the game and going outside but its shaming you for not visiting your vault pokemon enough
