Powell is in that gameplay footage and it even though it’s faint, it sounds like a fine arrangement
They’re not just gonna keep calling it Final Fantasy VII Remake, are they?
Final Fantasy VII: Again
they’re still trying to formulate the exact faux-latin nonsense phrase they need to make it right
Since it’s going to be released in 25 installments it’s going to be Final Fantasy VII: Advent Calendar
This is such a good joke
No multiplayer…
I’m much more hurt by the threat of a Legend remake than I am finding out about no multiplayer in Trials
don’t you dare fucking touch Legend unless every single asset is a crazy watercolor painting
why would they have no multiplayer in in this game. it’s like the entire point.
remaking legend would be a complete disaster. it should be ported, though.
lets give them the next 9 months or whatever to figure out how to make a good jump attack don’t cloud the waters with complex camera systems
Someone taking the general pulse on JP Smash reactions:
- While the Secret of Mana remake was not on Switch, Trials of Mana is thanks to fan feedback over the lack of Mana on the console. Oyamada said that Collection of Mana was Switch-exclusive because they had to actually get the code for the games from Nintendo, meaning the Switch made sense.
Huh, interested to know what this actually means. Been wondering why so many retro collections have been exclusive to the Switch lately and if it’s all because of this reason. My guess would be that Nintendo licenses out the work they did on the various Virtual Console emulators so companies don’t have to make their own?
i think in this case, they’re referring to the games themselves. for final fantasy vii rereleases in the past, square have had to ask eidos (who made the original pc port) for a copy of the source code because they didn’t have it anymore.
remember: videogame companies are incredibly bad at archiving things
Eidos were the ones who actually ported the games though so that’s not the most accurate comparison I think. Would Nintendo be any more likely to have source code for those games around? Unless it means that Nintendo are the only ones who have made the effort to dump the ROMs.
seeing nerds who are completely divorced from the labor that goes into making videogames loudly complain about the upcoming pokemon game not allowing you to import Literally Every Pokemon Ever and feeling rather depressed
on the plus side there is now some E3-Tim Content at Kotaku now
There are too many Pokémon for something involving all of them to be a satisfying use of time and energy on either the developer and player side
Maybe they could make it like Langrisser where a single pokemon actually represents a group of units whom you see all attack at once, except instead of soldiers you have a bunch of pokemon running at each other. Have leader pokemon who are the main units and the little soldiers can be all the other, unimportant pokemon.
