I have the latter open now but I’m kind of lost as to how to sort the former out
Where are the forges

Dredgen gang dredgen gang dredgen gang

It’s just a node to the bottom left of the Earth map. There used to be several but now it’s just one playlist, I think.

Correct. All frames also now work with any forge, and Jotunn/Le Monarque are questlines instead of drops.

Plz explain armo(u)r stats
Am I right in thinking there’s no such thing as ā€˜base stats’ for any piece, a Magic Punching Cloth could be Mobility 2 or Mobility 30, there is no expected value range for anything on anything? So if I find a thing with a preposterously high and useful stat I should keep infusing that to fudge its power level?

lord help me i downloaded this out of curiosity and it plays so damn smooth on my pc… at 2k… in 60 fps…

Yeah, basically. I think mobility is the most important of the first three because escaping is more important than damage resist or health regeneration. The latter three, typically you want your super (intellect) as often as possible unless you’re making a grenade/melee specific build (of which there are many fun options).

update: i played the first mission, then it set me up on the treadmill and i aggressively do not want to level, so we’ll see how much i do with this

The ramp to 900 is easy peasy, then it slows down to just specific things like Forsaken, but only Garden of Salvation and the two top tier Nightfall Ordeals require 900+. They do show which drops are tier 1/2 instead of hiding it like Forsaken.

There are six stats in Destiny 2. All 6 have random value rolls with each armor drop, with higher-light and raid armor giving higher total stat values (visible below the stats).

All stats go up to 100, and have breakpoints every 10 points. In other words, if you have 25 Mobility or 28 Mobility, they give the same bonus, but 30+ gives more.

A stat at tier 3 is approximately the same as it was before Shadowkeep. In other words, Mobility 30 in Year 3 is the same as Mobility 0 in Year 2.

Classes have specific stats that always appear on their armor:

  • Hunter: Mobility
  • Titan: Resilience
  • Warlock: Recovery

Here’s the list of all six stats in the order I prefer them, and an explanation of what they do.

  1. Mobility: Increases your move speed and increases your jump height. The most important effect Mobility has is it makes your strafe speeds significantly higher, which is vital in most modes. Most important stat for PvP by far, arguable in PvE but I like sliding and avoidance so it’s very useful for me.
  2. Recovery: Decreases the amount of time until you regenerate, and increases the speed you regenerate at. Most important stat for PvE, pretty useful for PvP.
  3. Discipline: Decreases grenade cooldown. Grenades are the most important part of your ability toolset in any mode, regardless of class. pairs nicely with any weapon with the Grenadier perk.
  4. Intellect: Decreases super cooldown. Obviously very useful, but speccing into it makes your neutral game weaker compared to Mobility/Recovery/Discipline, even when maxed out. Most valuable on classes that should be supering a lot, like Defender titans or Radiance warlocks.
  5. Strength: Decreases melee cooldown. Borderline useless except in very specific niche builds. Most useful on Hunters that spam Smoke Bomb in Crucible or shoulder charge titans.
  6. Resilience: Increases overall health. Completely useless past 30 points; at 100 points you get maybe 1 extra hit before you die. Better to spec into avoidance (Mobility) than tanking.

Doolittle is right. Don’t really worry about level stuff at all; just engage in the content you want to play. The only people who have to care about light level are the sicknasty gamer freaks like me who raid all the time.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, Black Armory and Menagerie are both great questlines to start on. Their lore rules, and they give great opportunity to grind for weapons you’ll love. Black Armory has the best pulse rifle in the game (Blast Furnace), and Menagerie allows you to grind for up to !!!28!!! different weapons.

Don’t worry too much about armor until you’ve got some weapons you really like. It’s important to slot in synergistic mods when you start doing high-end content, but until you settle on a weapon loadout you like as your goto you’re essentially wasting time.

If you’re concerned about armor though, here’s the most important mods to put on (each of these has a variant for each weapon class in the game):

  • Head: [Special Weapon Of Choice] Ammo Finder (Drop extra ammo)
  • Arms: [Weapon] Loader (Increased reload speed)
  • Chest: [Special Weapon Of Choice] Reserves (Increases total reserves)
  • Boots: [Special Weapon Of Choice] Scavenger (Increases ammo from pickups, VERY important in Crucible)
  • Mark: Better Already (Immediately start regeneration on orb pickup)

And a place for you to see what mods are available and which ones you have unlocked.

i’m gonna do the impossible here and try and play destiny the way i want and not the way it wants, the grand experiment. that will probably amount to no more than 20 minutes a session per day. it’ll be interesting to see how much progress i get!

I’m really looking forward to Gambit Celadon.

Having seven seasons plus events worth of universal ornaments is nice, gets rid of the hodgepodge look.

How do they cycle previous season content, if at all?

Previous seasonal content that is no longer in the game:

  • Trials of the Nine
  • Faction Rally (Future War Cult, New Monarchy, and Dead Orbit)
  • Y1 activity ornaments (activities means: Strikes, Crucible, Iron Banner)
  • Y1 activity guns (replaced by Y2 versions which are identical but have random perk rolls)
  • Y2 activity armor sets (replaced by Armor 2.0 versions of Y1 armor sets)
  • All Eververse items (gradually being reintroduced since Season of Opulence so this isn’t really the case anymore)

Future seasonal content that will be removed (gear no longer acquirable, activities will go away):

  • Vex Offensive seasonal event

They said however that most drops which have been removed from the game will come back in the future, just from a different source, so honestly it’s up in the air what’s going on at this point.

my guess is that loot from two or three seasons ago will bob back up from the depths and resurface in the engram pool
