It’s not as bad as you think. Roll with a kinetic special you like (I’m using Imperial Decree), Fighting Lion, and any power GL, and you’ll get it pretty quick.
In the two weeks since Opulence has been live I’m at 30% complete just doing a few strikes a week with such a loadout. FL is a deceptively great weapon.

you get it when your team all captures a point together, cuz you’re standing around a fire! cute
man there feels like a real drought of kinetic weapon drops in this game. i barely ever see pulse rifles or auto rifles anymore. part of this i think is because origin story and nightshade dont drop anymore? the last kinetic auto i got was like 2 weeks ago at this point from gambit and i have seen nothing since. its a real bummer

i have been doing this, and absolutely agree: FL is good. i’ve run all these strikes so much in the past two seasons though that they’re pretty dry for me.
also i keep getting corrupted (great strike, but no one knows how to do it and it takes 3x as long as other strikes sometimes!) and warden of nothing (which was great the first ten times) somehow whenever i decide to do my weekly strikes
i did escalation protocol for two hours, got a titan mark from the chest when i was expecting a shotgun and went back to orbit because i thought it saved your level in the escalation protocol across instances.

the gun drops are from the boss, not the chest bllaaaa so i could have just stayed and killed it again and again

This isn’t the best week to farm Ikelos SG because all three weapons drop.

did it again last night, beat the boss, GOT SOME SHADERS then everyone left so i couldnt escalate again
I hate them converting IB armor to being a pursuit rather than bounty completion. This is a fucking nightmare grind, even by Bungie standards

the protip if you want to grind IB weapons instead of the dumbass armor is to not progress the pursuit at all because it adds all that stupid shit to the drop pool!

If I have the vanilla version of Destiny 2 is the game still playable? If so is it even good? Do people just play D2 vanilla or is everyone running with 50 expansions?
The pursuit is character-locked too, so you can do armor on one character and then turn-ins on another.
its playable but all the new stuff that everyone’s doing is locked behind expansions, so if you wanna play through the original story or whatever its fine

The people who are playing vanilla D2 right now must feel absolutely miserable, the good stuff really only showed up in the last expansion and the ongoing season pass
Maybe wait for the free to play version to come along and give you the year 1 expansions and access to a selection of year 2 activities?
