I can't believe today was a good play (Games you played today)

I’ve never played vagrant story, actually.

I should go back to FFIX or hell, better yet, finish that last playthrough of nocturne I started a year ago.

I was just linking the thread in general!

i got blasphemous like all the popular kids. it’s pretty cool. looks super nice. plays decently enough. the plot is nice, in sort of a really edgelord way.

a tiny amount, enough to verify that split screen co-op works on PC (absolutely), that they have no intention of returning to meathunks (c’mon, they can have a diverse cast of lunkheads, but no, it’s all Microsoft dramatic arcs), that the art direction is clear and readable (sort of!), and that the new enemies suffer from 343 disease: standing on the outside of a perfectly concise and realized existing enemy hierarchy.

not bad for $4.99/mo

Paging @Grandpa you have a Gears friend.

Gears co-op is the one thing I am unable to shed from the days when I had much worse taste in videogames, sorry haters it’s still good!!!

I had almost totally forgotten about that egg. After ten seconds of struggling to recall… oh yeah, the fucking egg.

Privateer sure had a lot of weird stuff in it. No wonder it demanded so much High Memory that I needed to tune a special config.sys for it to get it to run

I have been playing Blasphemous on the Switch for a few hours. I am not liking it much. Movements are a bit too floaty and the controls slightly laggy, sometimes parries (and even jumps) fail because of it.
The game looks much more atmospheric when looking at some well selected pictures, then during regular gameplay.
Enemies can look good, but they only have a single attack (so they are quickly recognized by me as just an “attack pattern” ) and they lose something when you see several identical ones at once. Music is nothing special.
I think it doesn’t have the “shock” power that the trailers gave it (by virtue of concentrating all the blaspheme scenes together). Regular game is much more diluited in this regard, and the blasphemous scenes less impactful, more akin to standard monster presentations (i hope i am managing in making myself understood, as English is not my native language).
Level design is also pretty standard in my opinion, it feels like homework on the developer’s end, to be built around the main idea and inspiring images.
I think that the main problem is gameplay, it’s not snappy, it plays floaty, and the attacks don’t have the same heft of, say, Dead Cells.
So, outside of the “blasphemous” make up, it doesn’t seem very good to me… And I don’t feel motivated to go on.
Anyone feeling in the same way?

It’s mostly a by-the-book Metroider with nice assets yeah. But I’m a sucker for Metroiders with nice assets so, it’s fine
I appreciate the restraint in some aspects, like not being full of stats and shit
Albeit I suspect that, like the relatively unremarkable level design, is due to remaining budget after all the graphics more than much else

When I’m done with it I’d really enjoy Gears 5-ing co-op if anyone’s running it on the Steam

My review of Gears 5 is that Xbox Game Pass PC took a week for me to get the program to install Gears 5 and now when the game is out it won’t start for any discernable reason.

I think gears 5 on steam also has crossplay with Xbox since it makes you log into Xbox Live anyway (which is the major reason Steam versions of Windows Store games didn’t support crossplay before) so I would play it with you

Sick fresh and dope

I miss gears of war. I just don’t own an exbox

oh now that I have learned to read the posts in this thread I guess you can crossplay

well

maybe after I get paid tomorrow
