If someone could just put a gate around Steam games, say, “Indie PC Games, 2015-2020”, and we could appreciate it as a system, we could dig through for obscure treasures for decades. Just the advances in art production in the past five years among <$200k games are mindblowing.

really intensely funny in mass effect 2 you can punish looters for stealing during a plague but you yourself are encouraged to steal anything useful you find, even hacking into locked bank accounts

I honestly don’t think I could go back and play that trilogy. I just have to let my hazy, positive memories live undisturbed.

I have a soft spot for the first Mass Effect because the galaxy map music is really calming and I have really fond memories of doing donuts in the Mako on uncharted worlds and listening to Boards of Canada while fucked out of my mind on dex

The spookiest parts of Control’s world are how you jitter when trying to walk up stepladders or you jump in place. I assume these are glitches, but if so I have never seen what’s actually supposed to happen.

the ropey ambitious parts of Mass Effect are what makes it so good, the other games were so cramped as to destroy the open promise of space. They even made the planets look dinky!

Mass Effect 1 at least let you hang out in the empty lot next to the shopping mall sometimes. The sequels never let you leave that mall.

I also think the first mass effect borders on being a good Babylon 5 simulator at times.
The tragedy is that it thinks it’s bordering on being a good Star Trek simulator.

this is a really good way of putting it but Babylon 5 would’ve never done anything as disgusting as encourage you to knock out a woman for questioning your participation in an extra-judicial death squad for the galactic establishment
