dont tempt me
been playing a little bit more of lost odyssey with xenia. in the newest canary update it actually runs great with vsync off! vsync off in particular because that seems to prevent ambient audio from dropping out after 5 seconds. music still skips pretty badly during cutscenes, unfortunately, but i may play a bit more… i love that it’s like final fantasy with a depressed vibe and aesthetic more akin to panzer dragoon or nier.
i’m mad that this pitch makes it sound like the Ideal Me Game and i’m sure it has lots of interesting stuff going on but everything i’ve seen of it just looks too dull to even process…
like 6 months ago i said aloud “a jrpg that looks like panzer dragoon would be cool” and daphny got to explain to someone that panzer dragoon saga is, in fact, a jrpg (i only had the original and zwei when i had access to a saturn)
yeah the ideal me game in question already exists and is called panzer dragoon saga but you know i’d like more of those!
i wholeheartedly agree with that sentiment
zeno how do you pass the wyrm boss near the beginning that you have to fight twice? i still really want to play lost odyssey! i just dont understand this boss fight! its been ten years!!!
I played Democratic Socialism Simulator and streamed it to a couple friends. It was a cute little experience, and had some nice tongue-in-cheek moments that made me laugh
Not sure I’d really call it a game beyond the strictest sense though. For the most part I just made decisions by the seat of my pants, choosing whatever fit into my utopian socialist-transition dream, and I thought I’d lose pretty quickly as a result, but nope. Got all the way through to the end, with a budget surplus that topped the meter, and max People’s Power. I didn’t quite reduce carbon emissions to 0, but I came close, and since the various issues you’re posed with are random, it might have come down to luck. I’m pretty sure given how easily I achieved this on my first run, with a few more runs and some actual consideration from a gamer’s perspective, rather than following my heart, I could get a “perfect ending”. Not that I would enjoy that, so I won’t.
I see it as more of a fun little commentary and interactive PSA for socialism. Using cute animals and cozy music to send the message of “These ideas aren’t as insane as some people think, and here’s us allowing you to fantasize and imagine a bit on a world where they were enacted”.
played dragon’s dogma, got whipped cuz the duke’s wife fell in love with me, despite having only met me once and she stole my clown hat.
i hate rich people
sometimes that is how the world of dragon’s dogma can go. but sometimes you can fall in love with a wealthy shopkeeper for his money and travel the world with a tall zweihander-wielding lesbian companion battling HARPIES, ARISEN!!! and slaying dragons. i love dragon’s dogma
This does sound realistic.
I love Lost Odyssey and that weird Ring mechanic
idk, um… give it a chance? it’s all pretty Ideal Me, Too
i’ll let you know once i find out! after messing around with emulation i’m like an hour into the game, waiting to leave the hotel and go investigate the giant magic staff
one thing i really like about lost odyssey is all the brian de palma splitscreen action
me too, nobility sux tho. few things are as fun as stabbing a cyclops in the eye after you climbed it
i love picking up pots and tossing them at monsters
i love tossing skeletons off high ledges
i will! it’s just something i need to give proper time/attention
The more I play of Hob the more I like it, actually. It’s not revelatory and is kind of a little janky, but I do really appreciate that it’s not talky at all and generally lets the player figure out a lot on their own (despite being a bit linear)
this didn’t seem to work for me
damn. are you using the latest canary build? could be some fluke of my hardware setup.
