If eastern european devs finally start getting the respect they deserve it will not be too soon
They’ve really felt like the true spirit of PC games since 2005
actually, that’s exactly right, since S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
yeah Boiling Point came out in 2005 too and that game I think is equally as influential as STALKER in a lot of respects
I haven’t played that one but I can see why you’d say that.
Gosh, then Far Cry 2 was 2008 and we almost had conversation inside FPS but then mobile happened and everyone decided progression systems and gun skins were the way to go instead
I don’t think I’ve ever played an FPS where I cared about my shit as much as I do playing Boiling Point. I love my shitty Lada Niva packed full of syringes and ammunition and may have actually cried at least once watching my car get blown up by a military attack helicopter
Been playing Superbeat Xonic (& a bit of ddr) recently and as someone whos rhythm game experience has been mostly limited to variations on Rock Band & Rhythm Heaven it’s really reoriented me seeing how the freeform nature of the charting allows a lot of space for playfulness and creativity within the design.
I used to think DDR having almost entirely covers/original music was just an unfortunate budget constraint but I’ve gotten a lot of appreciation from playing these for just how much it (with the charting) allows the design to really have fun playing with the relationship between the player’s physicality, music, and the game’s presentation.
(also i appreciate that Superbeat Xonic unlocks a fart sfx keypress noise very early on for you & that a club in the World Tour mode is called “Space Ibiza”)
I played the Pathologic 2 DLC/demo, the Marble nest. I enjoyed the idea of trying Pathologic without my actions having too many terrible long term consequences
I start the game having already contained the plague (at a great human cost). But everything tells me that this containment won’t last and I will lose everything today?
The stakes immediately terrify me and I try to go to every point of interest ASAP without particularly looking for items. Bad idea.
Morale among the townspeople is low and I don’t get any respect as a figure of authority.
I try to heal a moleman with makeshift bandages, he dies and his friends tell me I have doomed us all.
As I run out of things to do and start starving I begin to loot every place for food but can’t find anything but a few walnuts and raisins. I remember that some kids asked me for nuts because they contain the souls of dead people or something but man. I am pragmatical. I do not believe in that magic realism shit. I am very hungry. I just eat the nuts instead.
The day goes on, I have no clear objectives left so I go visit every open house I can find. Terrifying events transpire in one of them and I don’t understand them. I realize that everyone else has already given up. I run to the steppes to die of starvation, far from the plague. Death appears to me to tell me I am useless. Final screen:
did they fix the background ambient noise going silent in an area after a few seconds yet
i couldn’t really play long enough to say, but… maybe? the far more glaring issue for me was the music skipping really badly during the opening boss fight. i thought i might be ok after that, as the skipping stopped, but then i walked into that glitch-chasm.
you got to get the canary version of xenia
ya that’s what i’m usin
browsing various youtube vids it looks like the results are not consistent between recent canary releases? some videos look a lot better than others, but idk whether anyone’s actually played it to completion
my offer to give anyone who comes overto my apartment and beats the second? first? boss that you have to beat twice in lost odyssey so i can play thr rest of the game normally ten dollars still stands
i know ill love this game but i cant beat that boss and all fucking guides say for the second loop is GOOD LUCK or DO IT AGAIN and excuse me how
starting this post i thought surely the offer was going to be coronavirus
Playing Link to the Past on my RGB-modded SNES Mini and Helmasaurus King is absolutely handing me my hash. Part of this is that one room with all the turtles on the way to the boss, I invariably lose at least 2-3 hearts just from getting sloppy/being unable to track all the turtles with the room being dark. I haven’t even knocked his mask all the way off once.
i guess i’m testing emulators n games i’ve been keeping an eye on for a bit, today. nier is looking good in rpcs3! the weird ambient light flickering is now gone. i’m not sure whether all the lighting effects look perfectly accurate (look at the windows) but i mean. it also runs at 60fps with a simple patch. there used to be an issue with vulkan rendering the final cutscenes but that’s evidently been fixed.
i dont have that yet!!! im riding busses and touching doorknobs every day but all i got out of it was a cancelled dentist appointment
wonder if this is going to bring the handkerchief back en vogue
i like the way chipping at his face with the hammer knocks you back, but yeah the turtles are annyoing, like youll go to smash an upside down one with a hammer and flip like two or three others on their feet then they get FASTER
