A few drops of water actually does take the edge of a Whiskey which is a little harsh up front. Allowing you to focus more on the underlying flavors.
Personally, I think ice is way too much, unless you are drinking fast. But I understand its probably as much a sort of ritual or aesthetic thing, for a lot of people.
Doing Europa Universalis IV Trail of Tears achievement which is taking Cherokee from the start and become the only country in the Eastern Seaboard of the Americas. It is understandably not done by a lot of people, particularly because all the unique things North American natives get pre-contact are removed entirely after you reform and their religion bonuses for Totemist rather suck.
My first big attempt Great Britain was the only colonizer to show further north. Then we entered this long back and forth nonsense where I bully the colonies adjacent to me while GB was busy elsewhere, take all their ducats and all their provinces I could afford, then GB would declare war on me shortly afterward for reconquest with their bully friend the Netherlands and essentially knock me back a step or two. Around 1650 the disparity between them and me became too great (I was not gaining ground anymore) and I decided to try again.
This time it was Spain coming in the Gulf of Mexico. This was perfect because direct adjacency meant the biggest tech boost. Essentially what happened was the natives scoped out all the cool stuff the Europeans were doing, quickly figured out how guns worked and used their tremendous treasury to bootstrap themselves into a Great Power, wiping out the burgeoning colony New Spain in the process (and stealing Printing Press plans (not really, but mechanically I was ahead of most Europeans because of embracing that institution early)). Now it’s the Cherokee who set the tone of the New World, stretching from Mexico to Maine.
i started dragon quest 5 on DS today. ive never played a dragon quest. i like how you have to confess at a church to save and all the options there are esoteric bullshit that isnt self-explanatory until you try them. the encounter rate is high as fuck but i figure if i can deal with it ill be prepared for my jrpg journey. im really early in, i have to go help the innkeepers daughter fight ghosts to save a cat from the local town bullies. its cute. i got instakilled by a hammer brother in the first cave because he hit me for 18hp on the first turn. i like dragon quest so far
i got turned onto this weird ass doujin fighter called “ultra fight da! kyanta” tonight. characters move at about a million miles an hour, and the designer has clearly never heard of damage scaling, but i can’t stop playing it. probably because the characters are mostly cute monster girls.
My girlfriend and I play all the Lego games we can get our hands on. We just love hitting stuff and watching coins go bling! (Okay, they’re studs but that sounded weird in the sentence)
Right now we’re playing the Lego Avengers game on the PS3. These games are actually pretty good. Not masterpieces but they serve a purpose. My girlfriend is a complete collectables maniac. She has to get them all whereas I don’t really care normally but Lego games can sway me. We’re working our way up to The Force Awakens, which is the one I really want to play. But we either need a PS4 for that or I need to hook up my PC to the TV to play it…
Yeah, I’ve had one or two of the Lego Marvel games for a while (I got a ways into the first one on PS3), but Best Buy had a sale on the all-in-one collection that was cheaper than buying the DLC, so I went in on that.
It’s kinda fun to see exactly when these things dropped corresponding to the movies just by what’s emphasized in them. This first game has a lot of, uh, real weird horny vibes between Hawkeye and Widow, which pretty clearly puts it before Age of Ultron (that, and all the borderline useless Thor Dark World characters at the bottom of the selection screen).
I dunno! I think the Lego games are very much “you’ve played one, you’ve played them all,” but they’re still pretty much the best movie/licensed games hitting these days, which I guess says something!
Some day I’ll get back to Lego DC Super Villains. That one is also pretty dang good.
I’m having a weird time with V, all the while a good one. I can see how it can strikes chords within its own (and to the side of) series/jrpg conventions, for its time, also depending on your previous experiences. But I might be having a dampened response after playing so much 1/3/7/8/9/11. Think I’d be feeling very different '92-'05.
So it looks like Reshade may not be useable with gamese played through Xbox Games Pass (I was just trying to put some scanlines on a 2D game). MS has decided to bury the game installations behind hidden folders a bunch of permissions locks and even when you do manage to gain control-----the executables for the games are obscured in various “packages” for the game’s installation.
*Upon some reddit reading: Even if you can find the executable for a games pass game, MS has implemented a bunch of DRM features which prevent “hooking” from some third party tools and programs. And even though you may appear to have full control of the folders, you can’t put anything into them. Such as mods or Reshade.
Here is a tool which allows you to use Steam to launch the games. And should therefore allow the overlay and possibly game streaming:
Oh definitely! They’ve been the same since the first one. There just aren’t that many good couch co-op games that both my girlfriend and I will enjoy, so they’re the go to choice. The games have become their own collectibles/check list that we tick off. Little things change but nothing major. They do get larger and more open-worldy but that’s about it
We all know the story of the competing movie directors: the scottish owl beast and the vaguely disco penguin. You know where the scottish makes a jazz themed- Murder on the Orient Express on an American Western steam engine with a bunch of totally not suspious crows and the Penguin makes a rooftop marching band jump around to fireworks while ukelule music plays?
A Hat in Time’s themes were made by madlibs.
And Jontron’s lines being so inconsequential this game gets the incredible distinction of “they wouldn’t remove the racist when the other platformer game featuring the racist did.”
I guess there is a shadow demon that I keep getting locked into doing contracts that are just goals for the fucking stage and seem to have nothing to do with anything.
Like one of them was “find out what is in the attic” so from the starting point in the spooky forest I…went through an ice cavern where I has to ring a stationary bell to create a sphere of influence so the green platforms would materialize but as the sphere shrank back the blue platforms would turn back to real and mostly I was cursing the camera.
After this I crossed a frozen lake to no fanfare and then walked around an old house that I think was supposed to be haunted mansion but there was a snow storm going on outside.
There was this monster in the house that made me hide under tables. I had to use a key I found in a refridgerator to unlock a piano so that I could jump on it to cause a book on a shelf to fall over so that I could get to the second floor.
On the second floor I had to use balloons to knock over a key hanging on the awning of a master bed. There was a diary for the monster lady guess her boyfriend ran away also she was a princess in this normal house and all the camera angles were very Luigi’s Mansion.
Anyways got to the top floor opened a chest got the game’s Shine (a hourglass that is fuel for my spaceship??)
And the contract came up and slapped a red complete on it.
It is done! What I forgot is that you have to wait around to embrace all the institutions as well. France kept trying to bully me with their Imperialist ways and they were initially successful, robbing my Tlaxcala subject of half their provinces and a third of Mexico’s west coast from me. I had the time to fight and take everything back with more besides.
Ottawa and Ohlone Republic are also my subjects. Portugal’s colony Cascadia exists except for the tip of Alaska (Mamluks has that) and the Dutch have those three provinces in Quebec.
