I like the concept of network multiplayer on Switch in the same room though. Very easy for folks to bring theirs over and it solves the obnoxious camera problems endemic to single-screen local multi

At least local multiplayer is confirmed in the style of the NSMB games.

I’m kinda disappointed that these songs seem to all just be remixes of their respective games’ main themes. They’re still nice, but I would go wild for some brand new Koji Kondo songs in that SMB1 style.

That being said, the music for editing these various themes is pretty fantastic. Love all the woodwinds. It’s like taking a break in the chillout room during a busy day at a theme park.

Yeah, like the first Mario Maker, I like the editing themes way more than the playing themes.

But also I hope I can adjust the music volume in this one independent of the sound effects. I don’t want to listen to the same song after making a puzzle level for 8 hours thanks.

it would be really cool if they managed to shoehorn in a game mode in this that was action based, riffing on the old Mario and Wario thing where you have to alter the level on the fly to protect idiot mario from getting killed

It’s not a bad idea to signal that a level is going to use or not certain mechanics based on its appearance. Especially the rhythm blocks will be a distinctive feature to expect in 3D world levels.
