Is it truly a heel turn if we knew it was coming all along?

Yes. Yes, it is.

Rejoice in the days of the Son of Saturn, Dark Bachelor.

Oh that’s nice. How much are kits like that?

This looks pretty similar to Games Workshop contrast paints. They’re situationally useful but have a lot of limits on fine control.

I’m glad someone is selling a cheaper alternative, since contrast is way overpriced. But honestly, contrast only looks good when used in very specific circumstances, which they carefully selected in their examples here.

It was $25 on Gundam Planet for pre-orders so I think retail is around $30.

High price for something so simple but it rather very nice, I think.

Not recent builds, but two of my Zaku I models, the design of which I’ve always liked more than than the Zaku II

Tomorrow I am going to finish a model kit and I hope you’re all looking forward to it. It has tires! And it’s chunky. It is very exciting…!!

You can do a sloppy job building a Gundam but it won’t matter as long as you put it in a cool pose. Always do cool poses!! That is how you truly complete a Gundam, and bond with it.

Here is an image that gives some good advice on how to strike a basic pose. Please consult it, and afterwards evaluate your Gundams. Ask yourself “Is this pose as cool as it could be?” and if the answer is “no” then you should apply some of these tips.

Thank you.

Also I’d like to move this out of the Axe soon so if anyone objects to that make it known (by deleting the posts you are ashamed of) thank you.

Another hot posing tip is to just rip off poses from tokusatsu and magical girl shows

I had the Baragon from this set! I started it as a kid but never finished it–I was too nervous about the looming painting step to even finish building it.

OK! It’s time for this month’s Gundam!!

Except it’s not a Gundam! It’s a HEXAGEAR. I do not think this model kit is based on a comic or cartoon or a light novel! I think it is an original robot and it was released by Kotobukiya. That means this is only the second non-Bandai model kit I have ever built! Will it stack up against the competition?! Let’s find out!

Most of the parts of this kit are connected by hexagon-shaped pieces so maybe that explains the Hexagear branding. Maybe this line is designed for easy kitbashing and customization? Maybe.

I was impressed by the box, and how black it was, and the manual, which is full color. Check out how fat this robot gonna be. I think a lotta folks aren’t into chunky robots, cuz this mother was on discount at Gundam Planet for months. I am glad I finally pulled the trigger on it. I’m glad I now own a robot that’s also a bigwheel.

Here are the runners. There are a lot of them. Not pictured: the rubber tires. They were in some bag somewhere out of frame, unattached to any sprues. Just loose, soft tires. Very neat.

I once again started with the accessories. Pretty basic but pleasing gun. Shield that doubles as a cockpit cover for Car Mode. As you can see the plastic is tinted, which means you can use this car to roleplay as a drugs dealer, or someone who doesn’t want anyone knowing they’re getting “road head”

The Bulkarm Glanz is 1/24 scale so in “real life” this robot would not be nearly as tall as a Gundam. They sell Hexagear pilots as separate model kits. I am unlikely to ever buy one because they’re like $20ish and I only have eyes for mecha but hey if you’re in the market they’re releasing a somewhat familiar looking pilot soon

His name is “Early Governor”.

Here’s the assembled torso. I forgot to rotate the photo but it’s a busty beauty. Check out the tail lights!

I started this guy weeks ago. Months ago? Who knows, time makes no sense anymore. So this torso upper body was sitting on my desk like this for ages. I built much of it while watching “Arthur”, which is a film about a tiny billionaire playboy (Dudley Moore) who drinks a lot, and the more he drinks the less funny he gets which I think was supposed to be comedic, somehow? Also, sometimes, he goes drink driving, which is supposed to be funny too. In the end he chooses love (Liza Minelli) over money but I think he somehow gets both so gosh, what a happy ending, I do not recommend watching Arthur.

Admire this screenshot, though. Liza had some looks and I am probably ripping this off for DDD: IN LIVING COLOR Edition.

Today I built the legs, which were quite involved, and include two sets of training wheels. You can pose the rear ones in all sorts of ways. I took photos of it with the gun but I will not be using the gun. Just the shield. There is probably lots of articulation here but gosh so many parts move and I am afraid to mess with this anymore. This is how this robot’s going to remain forever.

I wanted a nice photo of this this behind but I was too ascared to mess with the pose so this is it, this is the pose, again, check out the tail lights, and the tires.

And here it is transformed into an automobile. It was a rather simple transformation that only required the addition of two tiny parts. I took a photo and then put it back in robot mode.

For some reason I thought Hexagears would be the size of a High Grade but no, they are Master Grade priced and Master Grade sized. They are a fair value, I say. The plastic is fine, the assembly was fun, the gimmicks are keen, and there were no stickers. I will buy another Kotobukiya kit someday.

Thank you for your time I will build another model kit in the future and I hope to share it with you.
